Ride along to clean city bus stops with us!

We spent the day with James Martinez, a bus stop maintenance crew member, to see what it takes to keep bus stops across ABQ, safe, clean, and welcoming for everyone.

From spotting safety concerns and sweeping to graffiti removal, trash cleanup, power washing, and more, ABQ RIDE's team works hard every day to create positive rides throughout our transit system.

Want to help? Volunteer to clean up bus stops in your neighborhood! Your help with day-to-day trash cleanup makes a huge difference and supports our team immensely.

We hope you'll consider adopting a bus stop today to help keep our city and bus stops clean for all to enjoy!

A Day in the Life of an Adopt-A-Stop Volunteer.

Meet one of our dedicated Adopt-a-Stop volunteers, Eric Johnson, who adopted two bus stops near Juan Tabo and Montgomery. Why? Because this is his community, and he believes in taking care of it.

“I hate trash,” he says. Johnson has volunteered with Open Space since 2009 and is passionate about cleaning up from a neighborhood pride and environmental perspective. He knows the difference a little cleanup can make. And he knows that trash left on our streets doesn’t just stay there, it can end up in storm drains and eventually make its way toward the Rio Grande.

Through Adopt-a-Stop, he’s developed a sense of ownership over his stops. He’ll drive by, take a look, and if something needs attention, he takes care of it. A special thanks to Eric for his dedication to community and contribution to keeping Albuquerque beautiful!

Safer in a flash! 🚦

ABQ RIDE employee Margaret Lucero turned a safety concern into action through the The City of Albuquerque's Pre-Management Development Program. Her project brought teams together to install new flashing warning signs at three ART intersections with frequent illegal left-turn crashes to help drivers stay alert, reduce crashes, and encourage safety in the ART corridor.

“I know some people will still run red lights and not follow the rules of the road. But if my project can eliminate even one accident per month, ART will be safer for everyone,” said Lucero.

This project is a great example of how investing in employee development creates meaningful solutions for our community. Congratulations, Margaret on seeing this project to fruition and thanks to all partners who supported this initiative.

Ride safe, drive safe!

What an incredible show of community support for APS students! 🎒📚

Thanks to the generosity of our community donors and event partners, we collected nearly 150 carloads of school supplies to help local students start the school year ready to learn and succeed.

A huge shout-out to Chase Bank for donating 250 backpacks filled with school supplies!

We’re grateful to our event partner, the UNM Foundation, and amazing community supporters including Hinkle Fun Center, Flix Brewhouse, KUNM, and the City of Albuquerque for helping make this event possible. Our partners are united in connecting community to resources needed for success, whether it's education, transportation, enrichment, or school supplies!
