City of Albuquerque - Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs The Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs (OIRA) is an office within the City of Albuquerque created to connect immigrants and refugees to opportunities.

The Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs (OIRA) is an office within the City of Albuquerque created to connect immigrants and refugees to opportunities within our community that will assist them in advancing their social and economic mobility. Objectives include but are not limited to,
1) Connecting immigrants and refugees to culturally-relevant,

nguistically appropriate services within city government;
2) Creating opportunities within city libraries, community centers, and
other public spaces to engage immigrants and refugees;
3) Developing networks of community-based service providers to
meet the comprehensive needs of immigrants and refugees;
4) Strengthen city policy as it relates to immigrant and refugee rights. OIRA will be a central point of contact within city government to assist in navigating community resources, including legal services, workforce development, early childhood, business development, and other wraparound support services to strengthen families.

The New Mexico Immigrant Legal Center (NMILC) invites folks to participate in its upcoming "Family Preparedness Toolkit" training.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

This training is specifically designed for those who work with immigrant families and focuses on helping them develop a comprehensive family preparedness plan in the event of detention or deportation.

During the session, the following topics will be covered:
• Organizing and safeguarding important documents.
• Identifying trusted caregivers for children
• Establishing emergency contacts in case a family member is detained or deported
• Information on "Know Your Rights"
• Caregiving templates and tools that families can use, such as Legal Powers of Attorney for Minors and Caregiver Affidavits, among others

The goal of the NMILC is to equip childcare providers with practical strategies to protect and support the families they serve by offering accurate information and helpful resources. At the end of the session, NMILC will dedicate time to answering questions from attendees.
