Kalpulli Izkalli - Celebrating Cultura, Healing, & Justice “As we heal ourselves, We heal Mother Earth.”

Kalpulli Izkalli is a grassroots, inter-generational, action and resource center formed to transform the health and environment of our community. We build community power through organizing and direct action, education, advocacy, and services, to address health and environmental issues that affect us on a day-to-day basis. Kalpulli Izkalli is led by families and individuals dedicated to healing ou

r community and environment through the promotion, preservation and protection of cultural and traditional practices which include agriculture, medicine, and ceremony, as well as individual creativity to enhance personal, family, community and general human development. Our model for building a healthy and sustainable community includes a broad and inclusive process necessary in developing grassroots leadership, community power, and movement building. Creating partnerships is the cornerstone of our work in an effort to pool resources into our community in a more collaborative, strategic, and organized process of developing a healthy community.

Last week La Generala Josefina Garcia de la Mesa de la virgen de San Juan de los Lagos transcended. She was a pillar in the danza community and was very close to el grupo de Danza Mayahuel. She helped establish our estandarte and will continue to live on through the prayers and lessons she taught us.

What a beautiful return to our events at Kalpulli Izkalli and a warm welcome back from our community. Thank you to each one of you who attended Centeotzintli: Sacred Maiz a 7000 year ceremony discourse/Platica last Thursday at Kalpulli Izkalli. We would especially like to give special thank you to our hermano, Kalpuli Izkalli member Dr. Roberto Centli for a wonderfully informative and inspiring platica. It was so nice to be able to welcome you back with good comida, community and an eagerness for expansion and the continued seeding of humanity. Thank you also to Louie Garcia and Paola Domingo for sharing your familia and palabras with us all. Thank you to everyone who prepared food to share and everyone who helped support us in many different ways to make this platica successful. Thank you to everyone who gave love offerings to us. These events can only take place with support of community and we are so grateful for your generosity so we may continue our work. Gracias Maestra Sylvia Ledesma for continuing to feed us so generously in body, mind and spirit. We are blessed to have you to continue teaching us the importance of continuing our work together in community as we grow towards re’membering our medicine, our traditions, our sacred spaces, our connection to ancestors and our love for Madre Tierra.
