Rep. Gabe Vasquez is pushing protections to ensure massive data centers don’t drain New Mexico’s resources or raise household costs. After opposing the Socorro County proposal, Vasquez is backing legislation requiring developers to cover their infrastructure and energy costs instead of passing them on to families and small businesses.

He also supports requiring data centers to disclose their water and energy use. His position: New Mexico can welcome technology and jobs, but developers must be transparent, pay their own way, and benefit, not exploit, local communities.

Both professionally and personally, Katherine Gauer has spent her life serving and advocating for people of all ages. Now, she’s running to represent New Mexico House District 8 because she believes Valencia County deserves a strong voice at the Roundhouse; one that listens, fights, and delivers.

Katherine’s top priority is everyday affordability. But she also understands New Mexico’s environmental challenges around water and wildfires and knows we need to prepare for changing water access and weather patterns.

“Shoulder to shoulder with you, Katherine,” is her sign off on emails, because she is committed to working for her neighbors. Read more about Katherine Gauer here: https://www.bluecd2nm.com/katherine-gauer

Nathan Small understands hard work. He’s a third-generation New Mexican from a family of teachers and ranchers. He grew up in El Cerro Mission in a single-wide trailer with a communal well, so he knows what it’s like to struggle to make ends meet.

Nathan helped lead the effort to conserve Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks and chaired the New Mexico state House Budget Committee, where he focused on making the state budget work for families.

We need to keep Nathan Small representing NM State House District 36. Read his priorities for the upcoming state legislature here: https://www.bluecd2nm.com/nathan-small

Independent candidate for New Mexico House District 51 Grace Nagamine is praising revised Bonito Lake plans that preserve public fishing while protecting critical water infrastructure. Nagamine credits community opposition with helping change an earlier proposal involving extensive fencing.

With a City Commission vote expected September 22, Nagamine says water security and recreation can coexist and pledges to support regional cooperation and protections for both the water supply and public access.
