We are proud to share that Lea County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Cathy Carnes heads to Minnesota soon to participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games! The Final Leg started on May 29 and runs through June 20, 2026. We are so proud of and excited for Deputy Cathy Carnes who will represent New Mexico during the LETR Final Leg. The Flame of Hope torch was found in Ruidoso! Thank you to the Ruidoso Police Department for carrying the torch for our athletes!

The Flame of Hope torch was ran by the Rio Rancho PD and Rio Rancho Fire and Rescue prior to the Special Olympics state summer games.
