Maggie Hart Stebbins for County Commission In her six years as County Commissioner, Maggie has taken on some of Bernalillo County’s toughest challenges and brought about real, meaningful change.

When I joined the County Commission in 2009, I made a commitment to the residents of District 3 that I was ready to listen, ready to learn, and ready to work hard to tackle the needs and concerns of my neighbors in central Albuquerque. Over the past six years, I’ve worked hard to keep that promise - to understand and respond to the many challenges our families face and strive to find solutions. Di

strict 3 has been my home for almost 50 years. I love its remarkable diversity and know its challenges and incredible assets. District 3 includes some of Albuquerque’s most affluent neighborhoods as well as three of the largest pockets of poverty in Bernalillo County. We have some of the world’s most advanced research facilities at Sandia National Labs and the University of New Mexico, as well as some of our most vulnerable students. Our challenge is to leverage our strengths to build a healthier, safer, stronger community where each child and every family has the support it needs to succeed. As commissioner, I’ve been privileged to work with individuals and organizations who are doing amazing work to make life better through new job and education opportunities; better access to healthcare; supports for students and families; and public safety initiatives. I know that county government on its own can’t solve every problem but I’ve worked to build upon the tremendous community efforts underway to find solutions that work for our families. I love my community and believe that Bernalillo County holds enormous promise. I’m running for reelection to the County Commission – because we’ve made great progress but I know we can do better. It was my honor last week to represent Bernalillo County at the 5th Annual National Rx Drug Abuse and He**in­­ Summit in Atlanta. Drug addiction and overdose are reaching epidemic proportions across the country. While families in our community have and continue to suffer, we are making great strides to address this issue, and I will continue to work to protect help people struggling with addiction.

He**in addiction is claiming far too many young lives in our community. I'm working with U.S. Attorney Damon Martinez and others to help support our kids and help them avoid the devastation of addiction.

He**in and prescription pill addiction in New Mexico is now a “crisis,” according to U.S. Attorney Damon Martinez, and he’s hoping a new documentary, “Chasing the Dragon,” will increase awareness among young people.
