🚧 SQUARE CLOSURE – RVTV PREPARATIONS 🚧

Things are about to get busy in downtown Albia!

Beginning Wednesday at 4:30 PM, the Albia Square will be closed to vehicle traffic as preparations begin for RVTV coming to town!

Setup will take place Wednesday evening and continue into Thursday as we get everything ready for Thursday’s events.

Please make sure all vehicles are removed from the closure area before 4:30 PM Wednesday, and plan accordingly if you normally travel through or park around the square.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we get downtown ready for a great event. We’re excited to welcome RVTV to Albia!

🚔 We’ve had a busy couple of weeks at the Albia Police Department!

From training to community events and a few special visitors, there hasn’t been much downtime around here lately!

📹 We took part in hidden camera training and presentations
🎶 Helped keep things safe during Restoration Days and the Concert on the Square
đź’™ Participated in the Su***de Prevention Walk at the reservoir last night
🍽️ Had the opportunity to sit down for lunch with Congressman Zach Nunn
🛡️ And this morning, assisted with security for Iowa State Auditor Rob Sand during his visit to Albia

These are just a few of the things that have kept us busy over the last couple of weeks!

We’re thankful for the opportunity to be involved in our community in so many different ways. Whether it’s training, helping make local events safe and successful, supporting an important cause, or working alongside other agencies and leaders from across Iowa, we’re proud to represent the Albia Police Department and the community we serve.

We managed to grab a few pictures along the way, so we thought we’d share a little of what we’ve been up to! 📸

Never a dull moment at APD! đźš”

🚧 RESTORATION DAYS – ROAD CLOSURE INFORMATION 🚧

With Restoration Days activities beginning this week, please be aware of the following road closures around the Albia Square:

📍 Wednesday, August 26 – Afternoon
The northwest portion of the square will be closed for Restoration Days setup. No vehicles will be allowed to park within the marked area shown in the attached photo. Please have all vehicles removed from this area before setup begins.

🎶 Thursday, August 27 – 3:00 PM
Beginning at 3:00 PM, the entire square will be closed, along with approximately half a block in each direction leading away from the square, in preparation for the concert Thursday evening. The affected area is shown in the attached photo.

🚧 Following Thursday Night’s Concert
After the concert concludes, the road closure will be narrowed to a smaller area around the square. This reduced closure will remain in place through the following days as Restoration Days activities continue.

🎉 Saturday – Parade
The road closure area will be changed again Saturday so that the parade may take place.

Please pay close attention to barricades, temporary signage, and No Parking areas throughout the week. Vehicles left within designated closure areas may interfere with event setup and activities.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as our community prepares for Restoration Days. Please plan ahead, allow yourself a little extra time when traveling around the square, and come enjoy the festivities!

Please see the attached photos for the specific closure areas.

The coming week will be bringing lots of activity in the downtown area. There will be a concert on the square on Thursday the 27th of August followed by Restoration Days activities and of course the Parade on Saturday.
With all of these things come the necessary street closures. We will be closing the intersection of Benton Ave and Clinton Street starting on Wednesday afternoon to allow for the construction of the stage for the Thursday concert. It will remain closed until the end of the Restoration Days activities late Saturday afternoon.
If you regularly park inside the area indicated in the map below, please be sure you have your vehicle moved out of that area by 5:00 PM on Wednesday. Vehicles remaining inside this area after that time will be impounded and removed.
ENJOY THE CONCERT AND RESTORATION DAYS!

The Albia Police Department would like to recognize Chief Nathan Pritchard for completing the FBI-LEEDA Leading Edge Mindset: Frontline Leadership course at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy.

This three-day leadership development course is designed to strengthen the skills and mindset needed to lead effectively in today’s public safety profession. The training focuses on principled leadership, effective communication, decision-making, accountability, and building a strong foundation for continued professional growth.

At the Albia Police Department, we believe strong leadership requires a commitment to continually learning, improving, and setting the example for others. Investing in professional development helps us strengthen our department and better serve the citizens of Albia.

Congratulations, Chief Pritchard, on completing the course and continuing that commitment to leadership and professional growth!
