🌱🐢 Deputy Bonsai Says Thank You! 🐢🌱

Deputy Bonsai would like to give a very special THANK YOU to Harvest Happy Farm for their generous donation of fresh food! She has been enjoying every bite.

As a Sulcata tortoise, Bonsai knows that eating healthy foods helps her grow strong, stay active, and keep her shell healthy.

Just like Bonsai, kids need healthy vegetables to help their bodies grow, give them energy to learn, and keep them ready for all of life's adventures!

Remember: Healthy choices today help you grow stronger tomorrow.

Thank you, Harvest Happy Farm, for helping keep Deputy Bonsai happy, healthy, and growing! 💚

The reserve deputies successfully completed the fi****ms qualification program established in accordance with the standards set forth by the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. Their successful completion of this training demonstrates their commitment to professionalism, preparedness, and public safety.

We commend these four reserve deputies for their hard work and dedication and thank Deputy Farrington and Deputy Sirovy for their continued commitment to training the next generation of law enforcement professionals.

As planting season continues across Iowa, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind motorists to use extra caution around farm equipment traveling on our roadways.

We have recently received complaints regarding drivers using designated center turn lanes to pass tractors and other slow-moving farm equipment. As the posted signage states, these are “CENTER LANE ONLY” lanes intended for left-turn movements — not for continuous travel or passing traffic.

Using the center lane to overtake vehicles creates potential conflict with drivers who are lawfully entering the lane to turn into businesses, side streets, driveways, or intersections. This type of maneuver can quickly create a dangerous situation for everyone involved.

Drivers are reminded to overtake farm equipment only when it can be done safely and legally.

Please remember:• Be patient around farm equipment.• Slow down and allow yourself extra travel time.• Only pass when you have a clear view of traffic and sufficient space.• Watch for equipment making wide turns into fields or driveways.• Never assume the operator can see you.

Our farmers are working hard during a busy season, and everyone’s cooperation helps keep our roads safe for all travelers.

Drive safe and stay alert.
