Marine Corps and Oregon State
๐ช๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐ ๐๐ฝ ๐๐ผ ๐ป๐ผ๐?
After high school, I served 5 years in the Marine Corps. While I didn't deploy, I lived on both coasts, learned from great leaders, and made lifelong friends! After finishing my contract, I studied CS at Oregon State. On the side, I also began running online events for competitive games. I'd generally been reserved socially, but organizing events flipped that script. Helping others enjoy themselves put healthy pressure on me to become more social and helpful. That contrast became strong enough that I put my studies on hold and pursued event work in gaming full-time. Included in these efforts was assisting STMA with esports! A highlight of this was running a tournament in the library I used to write papers in. Eventually this led to my current role managing operations for a gaming company in Ohio. The job takes me nationwide, supporting events of all sizes. Whether it's high school kickoff events or Free Play at Dreamhack, I love seeing gaming become more embedded in communities.

My homeroom with Mr. Rusin was such a nice "rock" to look forward to start the day. Good music and vibes every year with a lot of people I'd known since elementary school.
Also, shout-out Mr. Nagengast for always making math classes a good time and showcasing his acting ability during the Mock Crash.
