🐾🐶 Choctaw Hounds Pound 261 Represents at the 2026 Department Convention 🐶🐾

The Dogs of Choctaw Hounds Pound 261 proudly attended the 2026 Department Convention, joining fellow Devil Dogs from across Louisiana for a weekend filled with Fun, Fellowship, and Devotion.

We were honored to participate in the Louisiana Pack Grand Growl and witness the installation of the new Louisiana Pack Officers by Past Chief Devil Dog Alan Sanning, the 60th Chief Devil Dog. Congratulations to PDD Dave “D-Day” Martin on his installation as Louisiana Pack Leader, and best wishes to all of the newly installed Pack Officers.

One of the highlights of the weekend was welcoming four Pups as they advanced to the Degree of Devil Dog. Choctaw Hounds was especially proud that two of those new Devil Dogs came from our own Pound. Congratulations to James Wicks and Bryan Powell on earning the Degree of Devil Dog and taking the next step in their MODD journey.

Choctaw Hounds members were also well represented during the awards and recognition portion of the convention. Congratulations to PDD James Roy, PDD Todd Messina, and PDD Frank Muscarello, who each received the Pack Leader’s Commendation Ribbon in recognition of their dedication and service to the Louisiana Pack and the Military Order of the Devil Dogs.

The charitable spirit of the Devil Dogs was on full display throughout the convention. Through the generosity of Dogs from across Louisiana, several hundred Big Bones were raised for the Kennel Children’s Hospital Fund, and more than 800 pounds of dog food was collected and donated through Crooked Tail Pound 168 to a local animal shelter. We are proud to have played a role in efforts that support both children and animals in need.

The convention also provided an opportunity for Dogs from every Pound in Louisiana to strengthen friendships, exchange ideas, and enjoy the camaraderie that makes our Order unique. Whether in the Grand Growl, the hospitality room, or simply sharing stories with fellow Dogs, the weekend reminded us why the Military Order of the Devil Dogs continues to thrive.

Choctaw Hounds Pound 261 extends its congratulations to all award recipients, newly installed officers, and newly initiated Devil Dogs. We also thank every Dog who attended and represented our Pound throughout the weekend.

The future of Choctaw Hounds remains strong because of the dedication, enthusiasm, and leadership of our members. We look forward to another year of supporting the Louisiana Pack while promoting the principles of Fun, Fellowship, and Devotion.

🇺🇸 Memorial Day 🇺🇸

Today, the Choctaw Hounds Pound #261 honors and remembers the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Their courage, sacrifice, and devotion to duty will never be forgotten. As Marines and Devil Dogs, we carry forward their legacy through continued service, loyalty, and commitment to one another and our communities.

This Memorial Day, we ask everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of the day and remember those who gave everything for the freedoms we enjoy.

Semper Fidelis.

It was great a great honor to be present when now PDD Pat Kane earned his PDD after 25 years in the order at 92 years old. We love Pat who has been instrumental in toys for toys and helping provide details for the war vets homes over the years and so much more. We couldn’t be more proud. Thank you to the Chief Devil Dog for approving the exception for him. Truly a great Marine. Also thank you to Worthy Pack Leader Sammy Marcel for making the trip in for the special growl and initiation of our brand new PDD Pat Kane!!! WOOF WOOF!!!

DO YOU LOVE DOGS????

One of the Missions of the Military Order of the Devil Dogs is provide dog food to our local Animal Shelters it is called Operation: Chowhound. Our goal with this campaign is to increase the amount of Dog Food we donate each quarter. The members each bring a 50 lbs. bag to each growl (meeting). However, we are a small organization and that is where you come in. With your help we can reach our goal of 2000 lbs. of Dog Food donated this year. So if you love helping Dogs then please consider donating to our cause.

Woof Woof!!! Our Pound continues to grow here in Baton Rouge. This year we were recognized as the leading pound in the nation for the amount of dog food we donated to local shelters. Why stop there we want to also help our children's hospitals more as well. That's where you come in. In an effort to help us succeed we need to rely on the men and women of the Baton Rouge area who believe Marines stand up for great causes and ask for your generous donations to help us support these worthy causes. Please consider giving to our Pound so that we can continue to lead the way in giving in the Military Order of the Devil Dogs. Thank you for your support.
