Repairs on I-35 bridges begin June 15 over Albert Lea Lake

ALBERT LEA, Minn. – Motorists traveling on Interstate 35 southbound and northbound bridges over Albert Lea Lake should be alert for crews making repairs beginning June 15, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Repairs on the I-35 bridges include pile wrapping. Pile wrapping seals, protects, and extends bridges lifespan. The work is expected to be completed by October 2026

Shoulder closures will occur during the work. MnDOT advises that motorists always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones. A MnDOT bridge painting project will be near this website, so motorists may encounter two works zones and should be alert for workers and the work zone speed limits.

Today I got to present 2 local ladies with a Sheriff’s Commendation Award for their lifesaving efforts on January 19th. Because of Monica Fairchild and Stacey Roe, Larry has recovered and was with us today at the presentation. They represent what is so great about our county. Thank you Stacey and Monica.

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. This week we recognize the Peace Officers who work for the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office.
Today we recognize Edward Dreyer and Todd Earl.
