We wear orange because our communities deserve to be safe. We wear orange because the pain of gun violence is felt too deeply and too often in Black and brown neighborhoods. We wear orange because silence is not an option.

The Albany County Legislative Black Caucus joins advocates nationwide this June in calling for meaningful action to end gun violence.

To every survivor and every family who has lost someone, we see you, we stand with you, and we will not stop fighting for you.

Albany, this Saturday is one to celebrate!

The Albany County Legislative Black Caucus encourages our community to come out and support the YMCA African Heritage Parade on Saturday, June 20th at 11:30 AM, stepping off from Sunshine School right here in Albany.

This year's Parade Marshals include Mayor Dr. Dorcey L. Applyrs, Albany City Councilman Derek Johnson, former Albany County Legislator Norma Chapman (LBC founder), and so many more incredible leaders and community champions. It's a beautiful opportunity to celebrate Black heritage, honor our community, and march together in pride.

We hope to see you there! Albany Mayor Dr. Dorcey Applyrs

What a beautiful day of freedom, community, and joy!

On behalf of the Albany County Legislative Black Caucus and LBC Chair Dr. Carolyn McLaughlin, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who joined us for our Annual Juneteenth Festival at 112 State Street today.

To our community members who came out to celebrate, thank you for filling the Cahill Room with your energy, your spirit, and your love. And to our incredible vendors, performers, and partners, your contributions made this event truly special.

Juneteenth is a reminder of how far we've come and how much further we'll go together. We are grateful for this community every single day.
