Black Rose / Rosa Negra Anarchist Federation - Upstate NY This is the Upstate New York local of the Black Rose Anarchist Federation, an organization of active

We are an organization of revolutionaries who share common visions of a new world - a world where people collectively control our workplaces, communities and land and where all basic needs are met. A world wherepower and participation flow from the bottom upwards and society isorganized for people’s aspirations, passions, and needs rather thanprofit, racial prejudice, patriarchy, or imperialism; a

nd where we live sustainably with the planet. We believe that this vision can only be brought about through therevolutionary power of the working class organized in the workplaces, community, schools, and streets to overthrow the state and capitalism andbuild a new world from the bottom up. As those actively seeking to construct this vision we are inspired by thetraditions of anarchist communism, anarcho-syndicalism, feminism, q***r liberation, abolitionism, anti-racism and their history of global struggle for liberation. We believe in the need for a political home from which toorganize ourselves and put forward our vision. We believe in the need to create spaces for the development of new revolutionaries that allowthe grouping together of similarly minded militants. We see the need to build a specifically anarchist organization united around a common set of ideas, strategy, and practice. We believe that political organizationshould speak to the needs of our time, and act as a catalyst in strugglesto expand their revolutionary potential. Political organization should be a vehicle to build, contribute to, and learn from social struggles.

------------------

During this year’s national conventions, tens of thousands of people will be on the streets protesting, and as an independent, commercial-free news source, we will be on the ground providing unfiltered, raw coverage directly from the people. While corporate news will amplify what the politicians say inside the convention halls, we’ll hold a mic up to the people outside.

We’re raising money to cover the costs of our convention coverage, and if you make a donation of at least $15 through September 15, you’ll be entered into a raffle with a chance to win a Unicorn Riot t-shirt of your choosing!

All you need to do is donate $15 or more to our RNC/DNC Convention Coverage fundraiser and leave an email address for us to contact you!

As a nonprofit, all of our financial support comes from grants and from you, our audience. Thank you so much for supporting our work!

We are a different kind of union because we don't want a seat at the table, we want the whole table! Our preamble to our constitution:

The working class and the employing class have nothing in common.

There can be no peace so long as hunger and want are found among millions of the working people and the few, who make up the employing class, have all the good things of life.

Between these two classes a struggle must go on until the workers of the world organise as a class, take possession of the means of production, abolish the wage system, and live in harmony with the earth.

We find that the centering of the management of industries into fewer and fewer hands makes the trade unions unable to cope with the evergrowing power of the employing class. The trade unions foster a state of affairs which allows one set of workers to be pitted against another set of workers in the same industry, thereby helping defeat one another in wage wars. Moreover, the trade unions aid the employing class to mislead the workers into the belief that the working class have interests in common with their employers.

These conditions can be changed and the interest of the working class upheld only by an organization formed in such a way that all its members in any one industry, or in all industries if necessary, cease work whenever a strike or lockout is on in any department thereof, thus making an injury to one an injury to all.

Instead of the conservative motto, ‘’A fair day’s wage for a fair day’s work,” we must inscribe on our banner the revolutionary watchword, ‘’Abolition of the wage system.”

It is the historic mission of the working class to do away with capitalism. The army of production must be organised, not only for everyday struggle with capitalists, but also to carry on production when capitalism shall have been overthrown. By organizing industrially we are forming the structure of the new society within the shell of the old.

On June 27, 1905, hundreds of revolutionary unionists, socialists, anarchists, and syndicalists convened in Chicago for what they called an Industrial Congress. Attendees were drawn together over a shared vision of what a union should be: anti-capitalist, anti-racist, militant, and with the conviction to organize all workers as a class - across industries and across borders. The Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) was born!

Over a century later, we still cherish these original ideals, and are still organizing and fighting for a better world.

Join us in our efforts! We have the world to win! https://www.iww.org/
