FASNY is proud to recognize Aurora Kolb of Germantown Central School District as our 2026 Teacher of the Year.

Kolb's commitment to life safety education extends from the classroom to districtwide school safety efforts.

Through innovative instruction and leadership, she has helped students gain critical skills in emergency preparedness, injury prevention, CPR, AED use, and fire safety.

FASNY applauds the New York State Legislature for passing the volunteer firefighter tax credit bill in both houses.

This important legislation provides meaningful relief to the 80,000 volunteer firefighters across New York and helps offset rising costs such as fuel, training, and equipment.
This is a major step forward in supporting volunteer firefighters and strengthening the future of New York’s volunteer fire service as part of FASNY’s 14 Point Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment and Retention Plan.

The bill is now on its way to Kathy Hochul’s desk. We encourage her to sign it into law.

RF-DASH training is coming to New York state, bringing together first responders and agricultural partners for hands-on instruction focused on rural and farm emergency response.

This program combines classroom learning with field experience, covering agricultural incident response, preplanning, hazard identification, and community engagement. Participants will also gain practical experience using Farm MAPPER for farm mapping and SaferFarm for hazard assessment.
