And here in New York, we’re watching a proven environmental program collapse in real time.

Redemption centers are closing.
Access is disappearing.
Billions of containers are at risk of ending up in landfills instead of being recycled.

Not because the system doesn’t work—
but because our representatives refuse to act.

For 15+ years:
•Our pay has been frozen at 3.5¢
•Costs have skyrocketed

Just last week, this is what my redemption center processed…ONLY for accounts.

This did not include walk in business.

And to be honest, I’m small potatoes when it comes to redemption centers. I have colleagues with hundreds of community accounts, processing hundreds of thousands of their containers each week.

We’re talking about Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, school funding, sports teams, youth programs, churches, charities, food pantries and more.

Organizations who RELY on this funding to sustain their operations.

And redemption centers to allow them access to that funding.

Because without redemption centers, this kind of volume has no where to go. And this funding disappears. Straight into New York State’s pocket.

Our representatives aren’t just failing small businesses and jobs. They’re failing entire communities.

We need your help getting them to act. We need accountability in our government.

Just a little behind the scenes view. THIS is what redemption centers have to deal with. While being underpaid and short staffed. The amount of unpaid labor coming from loads like this is insane.

If you attend events in public spaces, PLEASE be mindful and use the proper receptacles so that workers behind the scenes don’t have to handle food or trash.

We DEFINITELY aren’t being paid enough for what we have to do to help keep New York clean.

Sometimes that means agreeing with Democrats.
Sometimes Republicans.
Sometimes neither.

Blind loyalty to parties is exactly how politicians get away with doing nothing while people lose their jobs, their businesses, and their futures.

I’m not interested in defending parties.
I’m interested in fixing problems.

Redemption centers all across New York State are operating severely short staffed due to the state taking the money (unredeemed fund) meant to pay our handling fees.

This system WORKS. It’s the state’s greed that is breaking it to pieces. It’s time we hold our representatives accountable.

Most New Yorkers don’t really understand the container recycling system. And that’s OKAY.

I honestly didn’t know much until my father opened his business—and I’ve learned even more since reopening after his untimely passing.

If we’re being honest, we feel like we have to educate our legislators. The folks who have our lives in their hands.

So please, if you have questions or concerns—ASK! The purpose of this page is the help raise awareness of an issue that does impact ALL New Yorkers. Yes, even those outside this industry.

My goal is to educate and raise awareness. 💚
