Very sad news. Carm was a champion of the Capital Region and, as any good regionalist, he was relentlessly optimistic. An exemplar of public service, he inspired, by example, so many in government service to follow his lead. To work together, not in self interest, but in service of the interests of the region and its people. His legacy is rooted in those he inspired, and in the impact they continue to make.

When it was announced that the College of Saint Rose was going to close, I knew that something had to be done to preserve this property. It couldn’t be left unoccupied to become a magnet for crime, vandalism, and blight. I refused to let that be our future. In the short time since winning the bid for the property, we have already begun to make great progress in securing the future of the campus. As we begin the next phase of its redevelopment, we want to hear from residents, business owners, workers, and neighbors what their vision is for the campus. I encourage you to attend tonight's Community Visioning Workshop and let your voice be heard! For more information visit:

Congratulations to the newest certified and recertified Climate Smart Communities in the Capital Region!

Town of Bethlehem, NY is Silver Certified
Warren County, New York - Re-certified as Bronze, first certified in 2020.

They join the list of 31 certified communities in the Capital Region.

“I applaud the commitment and accomplishments of the newest six certified Climate Smart Communities as they work to inspire others across the state to take action to mitigate and adapt to climate change at the local level,” said DEC Commissioner Amanda Lefton. “New York’s more than 160 certified Climate Smart Communities are essential partners in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving air quality, and helping boost resilience as our state faces more and more extreme weather and the costly climate impacts amidst proposals to slash environmental protections at the federal level.”

CDRPC outreach coordinators can provide support for certification. Connect with us to learn more.

NYSDEC recognized six communities for their local actions to address the economic, social, and environmental challenges posed by climate change.
