The United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF) was established in 2005 to support grassroots democratization efforts around the world. It focuses specifically on empowering civil society—non-governmental organizations (NGOs), community groups, and local advocates rather than governments.
The latest data from UNDEF further underscores a powerful trend: Black- and White-owned women-led small businesses are emerging as one of the fastest-growing segments among the nation’s nearly 30 million small enterprises. Their increasing success highlights the growing impact of equitable funding initiatives and the essential role diverse entrepreneurs play in driving the American economy forward.
