Dougherty County and City of Albany leaders joined Brig. Gen. Kevin G. Collins, commanding general of Marine Corps Logistics Command, for the command’s annual community gathering at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany.

The event provides an opportunity for MARCORLOGCOM leadership to connect with local government, business and community leaders while strengthening the longstanding relationship between the Marine Corps and the Albany-Dougherty County community.

Collins assumed command of MARCORLOGCOM on July 2 and used the evening to emphasize the importance of the relationship between the command and the community.

“We love our neighbors in Albany, and it is a privilege to be here,” Collins said.

Collins and his wife, Susan, welcomed guests and shared their enthusiasm about becoming part of the Albany community. Collins noted that while he had visited Albany previously, this is Susan Collins’ first time calling the community home.

The commanding general also reflected on the larger mission shared by those who serve at MARCORLOGCOM and the importance of maintaining strong relationships with the community surrounding the installation.
