The Alliance for Rights and Recovery

The Alliance for Rights and Recovery The Alliance for Rights and Recovery (formerly NYAPRS) is a unique coalition of advocates Formerly known as NYAPRS.

Founded in 1981, The Alliance for Rights and Recovery has its origins in New York's clubhouse and social club community. Since then our aim has been to bring together and serve the needs of the broad spectrum of community based mental health recovery, rehabilitation and peer support services in New York. Accordingly, we have reached out to consumers/survivors and professionals associated with the

state's Intensive Psychiatric Rehabilitation Treatment (IPRT) programs, supported employment and education, affirmative business services and other peer-driven rehabilitation and recovery support services. Our goal has been to help connect and unite these diverse groups, building on their shared dedication to quality recovery services.

We’re hiring a Senior Manager for our Peer Bridger Program — a nationally recognized, recovery-centered model supporting people transitioning from psychiatric hospitals into meaningful lives in their communities.

The Alliance is seeking a dynamic leader ready to guide this powerful model, strengthen partnerships, and lead with purpose. This is more than a management role — it’s an opportunity to shape recovery-centered systems and drive high-impact work rooted in lived experience and connection.

If you believe in the power of peer support, we want to meet you.

Last Friday, one of our incredible Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialists, Britt, proudly represented The Alliance for Rights and Recovery at the Community Mental Health Awareness Walk hosted by the PROS Program at Unity House in Auburn.

Now in its third year, this meaningful event continues its mission to break the stigma surrounding mental health, raise awareness, and remind our community that recovery is possible.

Community organizations, advocates, partners, and supporters gathered at the Heritage Center in downtown Auburn to stand together in support of hope, healing, and recovery. We are grateful to everyone who participated and helped make this event impactful, and a special thanks to Britt for her dedication and presence!

We are excited to introduce a new presentation format for this year’s conference: Alliance Unbreakable Voices

These are powerful, 15-minute, TED-like talks designed to highlight bold ideas, lived experience, and transformative insights that inspire action and shift perspectives.

Unbreakable Voices Talks are not traditional workshops. They are concise, story-driven presentations that focus on a single idea, moment, or message, delivered with clarity and impact.

We are looking for speakers who can:
- Share a compelling story or breakthrough moment
- Offer a fresh perspective or innovative idea
- Challenge assumptions and spark new thinking
- Move hearts while informing minds

Whether rooted in lived experience, leadership, advocacy, or system change, these talks should reflect the spirit of our theme: Our Movement, Our Moment

If you have a message that can ignite, inspire, and resonate in just 15 minutes, we encourage you to submit an Unbreakable Voices Talk proposal.

Please submit your proposed talk to Eileen at [email protected] by Tuesday, May 26, 2026. Make sure to include your proposed topic, experience, and a two-minute video clip.
