The reason America has become a sick society has been a steady diet of Fox, Newsmax, and Far right-wing propaganda does to you, and once you are hooked, it is hard to get clean.
You take into account all of the lobbyists and Right-wing legal foundations, democracy really has little chance of survival. You have anti Civil Rights, anti-voting rights, Pro Gun, religious and anti-environmental operatives, a Fascist in the white house a Supreme court that is for sale by the highest bidder, this is what happens! Even before Trump, the GOP did nothing about fighting gun violence since the Brady Bill in 1994!
Some analysts argue that while the system is stressed, it’s not beyond repair—pointing to grassroots mobilization, youth voter turnout spikes in key elections, state-level reforms on gerrymandering, and new ethics rules in some jurisdictions. New Hampshire, and Minnesota, have plenty of red, but due to their high rate of registered voters, and for some unexplained reason, people have more south worth, than states like Texas and North Carolina, that have a very low rate of voter turnout.
