June's Honor-a-Vet Ceremony was in honor of United States Navy Veteran Thomas A. Regan. He served in the Vietnam War as a Senior Gunner’s Mate on board the USS Suribachi, an ammunition supply ship. Thomas was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, which recognizes honorable active-duty service during specific designated periods of national emergency or armed conflict. While he passed in 2025, his legacy lives on.

What a day of adventure! Lishakill Middle School took over Lawson Lake County Park for an amazing Field Day last week! From hiking through the woods and exploring the lake the students made memories and enjoyed the great outdoors on a beautiful day!

Along the way, students discovered a variety of wildlife and enjoyed spotting different creatures in their natural habitats. From birds chirping in the sky to frogs and snakes poking out of the water, every sighting made the day even more exciting and helped bring the outdoor learning experience to life.

Thank you to our Parks & Recreation staff, Lishakill teachers, and chaperones, but most importantly to the students for bringing the energy and excitement that made for a wonderful day of adventure!

To further clarify, when I was referring to "local municipal planning" I was referring to the City of Albany's Planning and zoning boards. Albany County has no jurisdiction in this matter.

I’m proud to partner with the Albany County Legislature to support our Veterans in two ways: by awarding $150,000 in grants to 12 local VFW and American Legion posts that help Veterans transition and stay connected, and by unveiling 14 new recognition banners that honor the service and sacrifice of local Veterans across Albany County. Both efforts reflect our ongoing commitment to stand with those who served, not just in words, but through real support and lasting recognition.
