This year's Movie in the Park saw more than 200 community members join us for a special evening under the stars watching The Greatest Showman on the big screen. There was singing, dancing, and a beautiful night of community celebration. Thanks to everyone who braved the chilly wind and helped make the event such a success!

On May 9, the City of Albany and City of El Cerrito held the first in a series of four Community Wildfire Resilience Workshops as part of joint Albany-El Cerrito grant from the Coastal Conservancy. People came from both cities to learn about plans for Eucalyptus removals and habitat restoration on Albany Hill, what the City is doing to keep the hill fire-safe, plants that increase fire hazards, and plants that contribute to fire-resilient habitats.

Participants then got to work pulling invasive plants, helping us make the hill a safer place for the community. We look forward to three more workshops: one in each city in the fall about milling felled trees into lumber and the last one in El Cerrito about fire resilient landscapes in the Hillside Natural Area.

Street paving of Marin Ave between Pomona Ave and Ventura Ave occurred between April 6 and April 17.

Thank you for your patience during construction. The paving work is almost done, with only the finishing touches remaining.

This paving was part of the larger Marin Avenue Pavement Rehabilitation Project (Phase 2) to improve travel, pedestrian crossings, drainage, and add new intersection lighting.

Check out this video for a glimpse of the work that went into the paving of the street. With paving work nearly completed, the project continues to move forward on streetlight installations and traffic signal upgrades.
