📚 I'm sponsoring a 2026 Summer Reading Challenge 📚

All you have to do is 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟱 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝟰𝟬 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁.

Want to participate? Here's how:

1. Download the Summer Reading Calendar from my website: nyassembly.gov/mem/Jonathan-G-Jacobson/story/118498

2. Mark the calendar for each day you read for at least 15 minutes, independently or with a reading partner.

3. Once you've checked off at least 40 days, complete the form with the calendar and mail it to my office (the address is already labeled).

Then you'll get a New York State Assembly Excellence in Reading certificate to mark your accomplishment!

I'm hosting a 𝗚𝘂𝗻 𝗕𝘂𝘆𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝘀𝗶𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟯, 𝟭𝟭𝗮𝗺-𝟮𝗽𝗺:

• Turn in guns for gift cards (prices + limits listed below).
• Guns must be UNLOADED and placed in a plastic or paper bag.
• Guns transported by vehicle must be UNLOADED and transported in the trunk.
• Each person may surrender as many guns as they wish, up to the limits listed.
• Active or retired law enforcement officers and licensed gun dealers are not eligible to participate.

As we wrap up the Legislative Session in Albany, I'm proud that my bill requiring transparency in job advertisements (A.6292) has passed the Assembly.

This legislation will help put an end to listings for so-called "ghost jobs" by forcing employers to disclose the timing and purpose of a job listing. Thank you to my colleagues in the Assembly for their support of this bill.

I was proud to vote for my legislation as part of the State Budget this week.

My bill (A2740) closes a loophole that let utilities like Central Hudson get automatic rate increases.

Previously, if a utility requested a rate increase, that increase would automatically go into effect if it was rejected without an alternate increase put in place. This new law puts an end to that. Now, if it's determined that the rate increase should be zero, it will be zero.

Thank you to Sen. Michelle Hinchey for sponsoring the bill in the Senate, and to my colleagues in the majority for supporting this important legislation.

Last week, we welcomed students from 2 elementary schools in the Poughkeepsie City School District, Warring and Smith 🏫

The students had a great day around the Capitol, and I enjoyed talking to them about the work we do in the State Legislature. It's pretty cool when learning can leave the classroom and happen in the real world.

Thanks for coming to visit, and thank you to the teachers and staff for all of your work to make it happen!
