ICYMI! The state’s plans to replace the Livingston Avenue Bridge got a major financial boost Thursday, thanks to $215 million in federal funding Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer encouraged the government to support. The award from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements Program is the largest in the program’s history. “This whopping $215+ million in federal funding will help replace the bridge, improving service and reliability along the Empire Corridor, ensure river traffic flow, and provide a long desired pedestrian link as well,” Schumer said. A new bridge is also seen as an integral part of both cities’ efforts to reconnect with the Hudson River. The project will also give pedestrians and bicyclists safer and better access to get across the Hudson River, connecting to the Albany Skyway as well as a $4.5 million multi-use trail at DeLaets Landing in Rensselaer. The Livingston Avenue Bridge — which spans the Hudson River between Albany and Rensselaer — is a key infrastructure link for both the region and the state. It's also more than a century old.

The City of Albany is inviting residents to participate in three surveys to reimagine the waterfront as a part of its ‘Waterfront Access, Vitality, and Economic Strategy’ (Albany WAVES) project (funded by NYS Department of State). The surveys invite public feedback on potential improvements for three waterfront areas: the North Warehouse District, the South Waterfront District, and the entire 4.6 linear miles of the Albany’s Hudson River Shoreline.

1. Survey on Albany’s Hudson Riverfront (Albany’s entire riverfront, including the North Warehouse, South End, Downtown, and Port Districts) can be accessed here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/AlbanyLWRP2

2. Survey on the North Warehouse District (the 102-acre section of Albany’s North Warehouse District): https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/AlbanyNBOA2

3. Survey on the South Waterfront District (the 23-acre portion of Albany’s South Waterfront District): https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/AlbanySBOA2

Review and comment on redevelopment ideas for Albany's South Waterfront District by participating in this Virtual Open House. Part of the City's Waterfront Access, Vitality, and Economic Strategy (WAVES).
