Members of the NYS Puerto Rican/Hispanic Task Force are repulsed by the ignorance of Rep. Mike Lawler, who questioned the citizenship of Vice-Chair of County Board of Legislators, Jose Alvarado during a public meeting earlier this week. This lack of respect for a Latino leader is just the latest example of the fundamental lack of knowledge about our country’s immigration laws. Read our Chair’s full statement below ⬇️

Only 13 out of 148 appointments nominated by the Governor and approved by the Senate earlier this month are of Hispanic/Latino descent.
