Our Unions Political Action Committee began in March and continued into July interviewing candidates for our upcoming election. All told, we interviewed over well 20 candidates that encompassed the State of Indiana General Assembly districts that reach into Delaware County, and several of our local county contests. We got to meet and question many really great candidates. Over the next few days we will be telling you about the candidates we voted to endorse, and why we felt that they either deserve reelection or deserve to be elected into the office they seek. Obviously public safety services and the wellbeing of our MFD and DCEMS members is our top priority, but almost all decisions by elected officials either directly or at often times indirectly effect the public safety that we provide. Issues from our school systems; tackling the drug epidemic; community development; infrastructure improvements; and the overall quality and value of our community, are all factors that to varying degrees effect your public safety. Issues like the right to collectively bargain (a seat at the table helps everyone's decision making abilities) and ensuring adequately safe staffing levels of our departments will also always be a top priority of ours. Therefore, we are proud to endorse the following candidates for election on November 6th.
