Capital District OFS is an organization of activists and organizers immersed in a variety of grassroots struggles who strive to foster intersectional collaboration across social movements to bring about radical change in society. Across the Capital Region many of us are immersed in grassroots struggles for social justice and are deeply committed to bringing about revolutionary change in our societ
y. From ending mass incarceration to reclaiming our universities; from developing democratic and ecologically-sustainable alternatives to capitalism to challenging patriarchy, heteronormativity, transmisogyny and white supremacy; there are a plethora of different fronts on which we are fighting. A number of us have begun to come together around the shared beliefs that: (i) the systems of oppression we face are interconnected and require radical transformation, (ii) that there is value in creating a structure through which we can support one another's work and collectively envision alternative systems in a holistic manner, and (iii) that any such structure must be a diverse and safe space in which participants are cognizant of their privilege. We envision OFS enabling us to connect with one another as radicals locally while simultaneously tapping us into a dynamic network of activists and organizers across the country. OFS is emerging as a leading organization on the Left that is connecting movements and ideas. It is developing a shared vision that transcends traditional ideological distinctions through concepts such as participatory economics, worker control, decentralized political institutions, and holistic understanding of systems of oppression.
