Want to create art with others, but don’t know where to begin?
Join instructor/artists Karen Mazzoline and Marissa Wissner for a NO COST Open Art Studio!
·All Ages & Skill Levels Welcome
·Flexible Projects: Bring your own supplies, or explore materials and themed activities provided by the library.
·Guided Support: Karen and Marissa will be on hand to offer guidance, help you start a new project, or work on an old favorite!

📚🍂 Mzinigangamik's October Reading Challenge 🍂📚

Aanii LTBB Families!

The Niigaandiwin Education Department is excited to announce the October Youth Reading Log Challenge for LTBB Citizens and descendants ages 5-17! Throughout the month of October, youth are encouraged to complete fun reading activities and track their progress on the reading log. Parents or guardians can help by initialing each completed challenge.

Participants who successfully complete their reading logs and return them to the Niigaandiwin Education Department by Friday, November 13 will be eligible to receive a prize in recognition of their commitment to reading. Youth who complete the challenge may choose a gift card or a Petoskey Cinema gift certificate.

The reading challenge includes activities such as:
📖 Read for 20 minutes
🐾 Read a book about animals
🤝 Share a book with someone
🪶 Read a book by an Indigenous author
🌳 Read outside
💡 Share a lesson you learned from a book with a friend

Let's make reading a fun part of October while building skills, imagination, and positive habits together!

Join us for a beginner's class about the fundamentals of guided meditation! Guided meditation is a mindfulness practice where participants are verbally led through a meditation session. Instead of meditating in silence, you simply follow their instructions to focus, breathe, and relax, making it an ideal, stress-free entry point for beginners. This class will be offered from 11am-noon on Monday, September 28th. If one of your fall bucket list items is to join a book club, we've got you covered! We currently have 3 book clubs that meet each month. The "Ink & Angst Book Club" meets the 2nd Monday of the Month at 6:30pm; the "Book Discussion Group" meets the 2nd Wednesday at 10am; and the "After Hours Book Club" meets the 3rd Wednesday of the Month at 6pm. Don't worry if you haven't read the books; we would love to have you join us! September is a great time to get your library card! Residents of the following areas are eligible for cards at the Alanson Library free of charge, upon providing proof of address and a photo-ID: Village of Alanson, Littlefield Township, Friendship Township, Little Traverse Township, Pleasantview Township, and Readmond Township. For those living outside of these areas, a non-resident card may be obtained for a nominal annual fee. We'd love to see you at the library!
