As part of Child Abuse Prevention Month, here is AmeriCorps Housing Manager, Charlotte Orr's thoughts on how their work at Adelante aids in the prevention of child abuse.

"One thing that I think helps [prevent child abuse] is our partnership with other programs in the area. We have had close interactions with Tu Casa... and placing people in safer housing definitely contributes to preventing those more aggressive interactions between adults and children so I think those partnerships are very vital for creating the best environment possible for children."

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

There is a phone scam going around. A citizen received a call from supposedly XCEL Energy. They informed the caller that they were on their way to shut off the citizen's electricity for non payment. They then told the caller to stay on the line to make a payment. The citizen called the real XCEL Energy and was informed this is a SCAM. They do not call you up like this. Please be careful when answering calls like this and NEVER give out personal information.
