October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. 💜

Domestic violence doesn’t always look the way we expect it to.

MYTH: “If it were really abuse, they would just leave.”

FACT: Leaving an abusive relationship can be one of the most dangerous and difficult times for a survivor. Fear, financial dependence, isolation, children, threats, and many other factors can make leaving incredibly complicated.

Domestic violence is about power and control, not simply anger or an argument.

This October, let’s replace judgment with understanding, recognize the warning signs, and learn how we can be part of creating safer communities.

Listen. Believe. Learn. Speak up.

Domestic abuse isn't limited to being hit, choked, or slammed into a wall.

It's also being belittled, humiliated, blamed, screamed at, lied to, cheated on, and controlled.

Somewhere along the way, we were taught that if there are no bruises, there's no proof. So women stay quiet and tell themselves it "wasn't that bad." They compare their pain to someone else's story and decide theirs doesn't count.

But it counts. The name-calling counts. The silent treatment that lasts for days counts. The way he laughs at you in front of his friends, then says you can't take a joke, counts. So does the affair you found out about while he made you feel crazy for asking.

Control doesn't always leave marks. Sometimes it looks like walking on eggshells, apologizing for things you didn't do, and shrinking a little more every month until you barely recognize yourself.

And if you're reading this with a lump in your throat, that isn't an overreaction. That's your body recognizing something your mind has been trying to explain away.

You don't need a scar to justify your pain. You don't need to be "hurt enough" to be believed.

Abuse isn't measured by how loud it gets. It's measured by how small it makes you.

3:30-5:30- Community Agency Fair

- GiveAways every half-hour !!!

5:30-6:30- Victims/Survivors will be sharing their stories, the community will be Invited to place a rose in the commemoration “wall” in Honor of a Victim or Survivor. We will end with a Prayer/Moment of Silence.
