June is National Oral Health Month- A Healthy Smile Goes A Long Way!

🦷 A healthy mouth = A healthier body ❤️ Your health starts with your smile—don’t wait until it hurts to see a dentist!

💙 Protect your health with 3 simple habits:
• Brush twice daily
• Floss every day
• Visit your dentist regularly

💡Why it matters:
• Healthy gums may help support blood sugar control
• Dental care during pregnancy is safe—just let your dentist know you're expecting
• Regular cleanings remove harmful bacteria that can affect oral and heart health

📌 Medi-Cal dental benefits include:
• 2 free check-ups per year for kids under 21
• 1 free check-up per year for adults

😁 Visit your dentist or SmileCalifornia.org/Care to find one and learn more.

🪥 Follow us this month for more oral health tips!

Join us at the 2026 BLACK WOMEN’S HEALTH FORUM on Tuesday, June 23rd in Oakland (tickets in bio) 🖤

Our Director, Kimi Watkins-Tartt, will be moderating a panel discussion called Lifespan: How Racism, Stress and Chronic Disease are Stealing Black Women’s Years - And What We Can Do About It. As the Director of Public Health, Kimi is leading efforts every day to advance health equity and improve health across one of California’s most diverse counties.

Many of our Alameda County Public Health Department programs will be set up in the Resource Fair and Career Expo, and we’d love to connect with our Alameda County residents about program offerings, such as our Doula Certification Program, Immunization Program, Sexual Health and Harm Reduction Program, Black Infant Health Program, Starting Out Strong Programs, Nutrition Services Program, Community Health Improvement Planning Program, and many more that focus on alleviating the challenges that Black women face.

This is an incredible event that we are proud to sponsor! Thank you Black Women’s Health Forum for the opportunity to build community, dialogue, and healing.
