Members of the Akron Fire Department recently honored the fallen heroes of September 11th by completing multiple memorial stair climbs on Friday.

Akron Fire members joined the community at InfoCision Stadium Memorial Stair Climb and The Canton 9/11 Anniversary Memorial Climb to climb the 110 flights of stairs.

Climbing 110 flights of stairs represents the grueling ascent made by first responders inside the World Trade Center towers. With every single step, we carry the weight of memory, honoring the 343 brave firefighters and all the lives lost on that tragic day. We continue to remember, we continue to honor, and we promise to never forget.

Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001, a day that changed our nation forever.

We honor the courage of the firefighters and police officers who ran toward danger when others ran away, the 343 FDNY firefighters, the officers, and all first responders who gave everything to save lives.

Their sacrifice reminds us that true heroism is measured not in words, but in selfless action. We carry their legacy forward by standing united, serving our communities, and never forgetting their bravery.

May we continue to stand united, carry forward the lessons of compassion, and never forget the strength that rises from tragedy.
