Huge shoutout to our friends at the Akron Zoo for hosting another successful "Night out at the Zoo" for Project Rise families earlier this month!

The weather was perfect and families enjoyed seeing the animals even more active than they are during the day!

The Zoo also provided hands on family activities, dinner and giveaways. y

Thanks to our generous support from GAR Foundation, we were able to provide school buses for all of our sheltered families.

Earlier this month, families in residence at Family Promise of Summit County were able to enjoy a week long Family Fun Camp. The camp included daily field trips to places like Fort Island Griffith's park, the Cleveland Zoo, the Natural History Museum and Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens.

The camp participants even enjoyed a special visit from the Akron Zoo Zoo Mobile!

Project Rise was able to help with supplies, staffing and transportation thanks to funding assistance from GAR Foundation and Akron Community Foundation. We are so thankful to our supporters who help make special educational opportunities like this happen for our families!

Christmas in July was a huge success!

What an incredible day celebrating with the amazing families in the Project Rise program at DLM Food and Resources !

More than 100 children and family members joined us for an afternoon filled with laughter, connection, and holiday cheer. Families enjoyed a delicious meal, exciting giveaways, festive crafts, games, fun activities, refreshing snow cones, and, of course, a special visit from Santa Claus himself. There was even a Steel Drum player in the courtyard!

Events like these are about so much more than having fun—they provide families with an opportunity to connect, create lasting memories, and experience the support of a caring community.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible. Your generosity, time, and dedication brought so much joy to the families we serve. We are grateful for each of you and look forward to creating many more special moments together!

Last week, we had the opportunity to take a group of our families into the beautiful Cuyahoga Valley National Park to enjoy a fun filled day in the sun. The day was complete with scenic views, hikes, lunch and fun!

Huge shoutout to the NPS Rangers for sharing your knowledge and dedication with our group!

Creativity was flowing at the special Family Art Workshop last week! The event was held in partnership with DLM Food & Resources, who make special events like this possible for Project Rise families.

We were thrilled to welcome two talented local artists who led guided painting experiences for both our students and their parents. Local artist Dray Evans inspired our students as they created their own unique works of art, while Cherelle Iverson guided parents through a painting session of their own. It was wonderful to see families expressing their creativity and building confidence through art.

The evening also included dinner, fun giveaways, and plenty of smiles, making it a memorable night for everyone involved.

Project Rise was delighted to host a special Dinner Theatre Event for our families to kick off the summer! The event was held at the Buchtel CLC cafeteria and featured the play "Squirrelock Holmes", performed by the talented Actors from Magical Theatre Company.

Families enjoyed a delicious dinner, an entertaining performance, and exciting giveaways throughout the evening!

Events like these provide meaningful opportunities for families to connect, create memories, and experience the arts together. We are grateful to everyone who attended and helped make the night such a success!

What an incredible evening of music, movement, and community!

Last week, DLM Food and Resources hosted a Hip Hop Workshop for Project Rise families. The event brought together kids, parents, and community members for a night full of fun and learning.

We were thrilled to welcome the talented dancers from , who taught participants the foundations of hip hop and street dance. From learning new moves to building confidence on the dance floor, everyone had the chance to get involved—and they absolutely rocked it!

The event was filled with laughter, energy, and unforgettable memories as families danced side-by-side and stepped outside their comfort zones together. Guests also enjoyed a delicious dinner and giveaways throughout the evening.

Because of our ongoing support from Akron Community Foundation, Project Rise was able to provide books for students in attendance. A huge thank you to 10K Movement for sharing their passion and talent with our community, and to everyone who joined us and made the event such a success. We can't wait to do it again!
