Governor Mike DeWine and Lieutenant Governor Jim Tressel have signed a proclamation declaring September 25, 2026 as "Dolly Parton Day" in Ohio.
Parton had a strong passion for children's literacy. More than 50,000 children in Summit County have benefited from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and the Imagination Library of Ohio.
To celebrate Dolly Parton's life, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel and I signed a proclamation creating Dolly Parton Day, to be observed on September 25, 2026. Dolly spread the values of kindness and generosity around the world, and her legacy will live on through the children who have benefited from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
In Ohio alone, more than one million children from all 88 counties have received a free, high-quality, age-appropriate book in the mail each month since the Imagination Library of Ohio program was established in 2019.
