The Summit County Domestic Relations Court serves residents of Summit County who have civil cases involving divorce, dissolution, or annulment. In cases where children are present, the court's involvement continues until all children born to both parties are no longer minors and do not regularly attend high school. This court also has jurisdiction over matters involving custody, visitation, and child support cases brought forward by parents or third parties. Cases involving juvenile court dependency, child neglect, or abuse are typically handled by the Juvenile Court. The Domestic Relations Court shares jurisdiction over domestic violence cases with the Municipal Court and the Common Pleas Court General Division, and issues dating violence and domestic violence civil protection orders.

This week marks the close of the Children in Their Best Interest art exhibit at Summit County Domestic Relations Court, and we're overflowing with gratitude.

🎨 A part of the Children: In Their Best Interest Exhibit has been loaned to the .

Administrative Judge Katarina Cook and Curator Micah Kraus graciously agreed to lend 29 pieces from the Miller South School for Visual and Preforming Arts, the exhibit reminds visitors, as Administrative Judge Katarina Cook put it, " [why] keeping kids' voices, needs, and futures front and center matters" — in the courtroom and beyond. Stop by and see it for yourself. 🖼️

CITBI Art will remain up within the Courthouse till September 8th and the CITBI Art loaned to Twinsburg Public Library will remain till September 30th.

The verdict is in! 🎉 We have gathered the feedback from Domestic Relations Court's first ever settlement week and couldn't be happier! 💕 It's been an incredible experience, and we're thrilled to share that the results exceeded our expectations in every way. From the number of cases resolved to the positive feedback from participants, it's clear that this initiative has made a real difference in the lives of those involved. The Ohio Justice Bus rolled into Mogadore this past Friday, and let's just say things got hairy in the best way.💈⚖️

Between Summit County Domestic Relations Court's Family Law Legal Clinic, the , a hearing scheduled before Administrative Judge Cook and free haircuts from Pioneer Mobile Haircut (Thank you Carlos), we were serving up both legal relief and split end relief.

Thirty-five community members got a fresh legal advice, some with a fresh cut to match. helped folks get registered to vote, because civic engagement never goes out of style.

Big thanks to our volunteer attorneys and community partners, , , and , for helping us trim away barriers to justice, one snip at a time.

Glad to be a part of the Child Support Solutions Event, hosted by Summit County CSEA in honor of Child Support Awareness Month

While Summit County Domestic Relations Court handles child support matters, parents have more issues than financial issues to resolve- and that’s where the Court can provide some answers.

We handed out our Justice Bus Free Legal Clinic flyer- which will be this Friday August 21, 2026 between 11:00AM-3:00PM at Russ Pry Community Center, 3857 Mogadore Rd, Mogadore where parents can get free legal advice and find out how to start the process and get answers to their custody questions.

Parents came with questions they'd been carrying for months, and most of them just needed to know which door to knock on.

We can't tell you what a judge will decide, and we're not anyone's attorney. But Administrative Judge Cook was able to explain the process and what a filing looks like, and where to go next — and for a lot of families, that's the part that's been missing.

This evening the Summit County Court of Common Pleas opened its doors to the community for the America 250 Courthouse Tour -- part of Ohio's celebration of our nation's 250th anniversary, and part of a bigger idea: that the justice system belongs to the people it serves.

Administrative Judge Katarina Cook was glad to open the doors and show the community around. Thank you to America 250 – Ohio for making it possible and thank you to everyone who came out.
