๐Ÿ’ง Keep It Clean. Test Your Well Water!

If you rely on a private well, regular water testing is an important part of protecting your family and your drinking water.

๐Ÿงช Test your well water regularly and whenever you notice a change in taste, odor, or appearance.
๐Ÿ” Keep your well area clean and protected from potential sources of contamination.
๐Ÿ’™ Know whatโ€™s in your water so you can take action when needed.

SepticSmart Week September 14-18!๐Ÿ’ง

Think at the Sink
๐Ÿšฐ What goes down your drain matters!

Fats, oils, and grease can build up in your plumbing and create problems for your septic system.

โŒ Donโ€™t pour grease or cooking oil down the drain.
โœ… Let it cool and dispose of it properly.
โœ… Keep food scraps out of your sink and drains.

Protect your pipes. Protect your septic system. Protect our water!

Meet one more of our Pawlution Patrol Officers, Luna! Luna has pledged to help limit their impact on water by telling their owners to pick up their p**p!

Pet waste is more than just an unsightly nuisance; itโ€™s an environmental pollutant. When left on the ground, it washes into storm drains and local waterways, contributing to E. coli contamination, nutrient overload, and degraded water quality. The Paw-lution Patrol is a paws-on campaign designed to educate, engage, and empower pet owners to do their part in protecting local ecosystems, simply by picking up after their pets.

Are you and your pet ready to take the pledge to protect clean water? Take the pledge here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdp56J8QJW68Ljma9vY7u2Jh6o7xT197t7n6r1hs3m1k2Ctjg/viewform?usp=header

Or visit our website https://www.summitswcd.com/paw-lution-patrol.html for more information.

Taking this pledge confirms that you (and your pet) are committed to responsible pet waste disposal (and you receive a free gift).

Contact [email protected] for more information (or to receive your gift)!

Paw-lution Patrol is made possible by Western Reserve Land Conservancy and Enbridge Inc., in collaboration with Summit County Surface Water Management District.

The Work Behind Clean Water

Protecting fresh water takes work.

At Stroud Water Research Center, scientists study everything from road salt and rising stream temperatures to farming practices, streamside forests, and aquatic life. They work across disciplines, and alongside our restoration and education teams, to understand what streams need and turn that knowledge into action.

This Labor Day, weโ€™re taking you behind the scenes of some of the people and work that make healthier streams and rivers possible.

Watch our two-minute video to see freshwater science at work, and meet some of the people behind that work: youtube.com/watch?v=h3ZKorSWOpk
