This is such important work!

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night for a thoughtful, energizing conversation about saving the front bay and iconic clock tower of the historic Firestone Plant One. Your ideas, passion, and commitment to preservation truly matter.

As the moratorium on proposals comes to an end, we remain steadfast in our belief that - with strong community support - there is still time to hit the pause on demolition and push for a re-evaluation of what we view as a flawed BID package, one that lacked meaningful opportunities for public input and thoughtful exploration of adaptive reuse. Our voices can help ensure Akron doesn’t lose an irreplaceable piece of its story.

If you weren’t able to attend, there’s still a very real way to make an impact: contact Mayor Malik and your City Council members to share your support for preserving this landmark. Send us a direct message and we’ll provide their contact information along with sample letters you can reference.

Together, we can keep Firestone’s legacy standing.

If anyone has worked with ART x LOVE please comment below and tell of your experience as well. This company has done and is doing so much for NEO and the art scene. I’d like to celebrate Mac Love & Allyse Love, so join me.

This is a review and recommendation for ART x LOVE, which is long overdue. Mac Love came on board as the project manager and continues to create historical vignettes using the oral history we gathered that was as important as the actual statue honoring the rubber workers that help built Akron.
Without his expertise in collaborating and helping build a team, handle all the moving parts of this project that was fueled by our love for Akron and its history, it wouldn’t have gone from a dream to reality.
If anyone is looking for help with an endeavor ART x LOVE will do an amazing professional job.
Mac & Allyse are very easy to work with and have been involved with multiple projects. Being a woman of faith and knowing how important kindness is in this world right now, I can highly recommend Art x Love. Their love for creativity and making space for artists to shine comes through so beautifully.
Thank you Mac & Allyse also for continuing to work on the stories and for the last screening this Sunday at the Main Library downtown Akron.

You can now BUY A BRICK and TELL YOUR STORY !

To buy a brick ($100), make a donation and/or share your personal story of the rubber era, go to the handsome website put together by noted Akron artist Mac Love, who has been an integral part of the planning and design: https://www.akronstories.com .

The site offers live video and audio submissions and uploads. But the group expects to collect about half of the stories via the telephone or one-on-one interviews. If you’re interested in contributing, send an email to [email protected].

Here is an example of bricks engraved with workers we know personally.
