The Springfield Township Police Department would like to recognize the outstanding work of Detective Simms in the successful investigation and prosecution of a case involving the abuse of an infant in our community.

This was a deeply disturbing and complex investigation that required relentless attention to detail, strong investigative skills, and a commitment to seeking justice for the most vulnerable victims. Through Detective Simms’ hard work and dedication, the offender was held accountable after pleading guilty to multiple serious felony charges, including r**e and felonious assault.

Santos, 38, was sentenced to life with parole eligibility after 55-59 years following his guilty plea to ra**ng and assaulting his 1-year-old daughter in 2024.

PLEASE SHARE...
The Springfield Township Police Department has recently relocated our speed monitoring signs, with one of the new locations in the 2100 block of Myersville Road, where the posted speed limit is 35 mph.

Within just the first week, this location has produced more speed violations than all our previous sign locations combined for the first week. The majority of drivers recorded have been traveling at speeds of 45 mph and/or close to that. Alarmingly, one vehicle was recorded traveling more than 45 mph over the posted speed limit.
This level of speeding is unacceptable and poses a serious risk to everyone who lives, works, and travels in this area.

Effective immediately, officers will be conducting increased traffic enforcement in this area. Sergeants have been directed to ensure officers proactively monitor this location between calls, and dedicated radar enforcement will be conducted as frequently as possible.

Our goal is simple… to slow traffic down and keep our community safe. We are asking all drivers to be mindful of their speed, obey posted limits, and help us prevent unnecessary tragedies.

***We are posting several of the violators from this week and will continue to post violators as the weeks go on***

The 2100 Block of Pressler Road is another location we have moved a sign to. They will be running radar there as well. These two roadways are County roads. We do not have any influence on what speed limits are on County roads. We enforce the limits only.

Yesterday was an incredible day for our K-9 program, and it’s all thanks to the outstanding support from our community and local partners.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Akron Coach Towing, and especially owners Nancy and Glen Main, for hosting and organizing this fundraiser. Their generosity and willingness to host this event to support our K-9 unit truly set the tone for a successful event.

We are extremely grateful for the overwhelming support shown through the donation of over 28 raffle baskets. A special thank you to Michelle Eboch for donating eight baskets alone, along with all of the other individuals and businesses who contributed. Your support made a huge impact.

Thank you to Walmart 1911 for donating the hot dogs and buns, and to Dawn Knox for providing chips for the event. We also want to recognize Justin Knox (resident & Akron Coach employee), who kept the grill going throughout the day, keeping the food hot and the crowd happy.

We would like to thank South Summit Dispatch for not only donating a basket, but also for coming out to support us in person. It meant a lot to have you there with us.

It was also great to see Chief Jack Simone and Trustee Kellie Chapman in attendance, continuing to show their support for our department and K-9 program.

A big thank you goes out to all our officers who volunteered their time to help with the event. The teamwork behind the scenes helped everything come together seamlessly.

Lastly, we want to recognize Froggie’s Pad Collectibles, located right next door to Akron Coach Towing. After seeing the turnout and community support, their owners generously offered to donate 20% of all their sales from the day to our K-9 program. That kind of spontaneous support says a lot about the businesses in our community.

We are proud to serve a community that shows up, supports one another, and makes events like this possible. Thank you again to everyone who played a part in such a successful day to help keep our K9 program up and running.

Capt. Moore

Tonight at the Springfield Township Board of Trustees meeting, we were proud to swear in two new officers to the Springfield Township Police Department, Officer Nicholas Stewart and Officer Alex Lemon.
With the approval of Trustees DiLauro, Chapman, and Caudill, Chief Jack Simone administered the oath of office to both officers. Their family and friends were also in attendance to witness this important milestone in their careers.
Officers Stewart and Lemon are currently participating in our Field Training Officer (FTO) program and are expected to be on their own in just over three months. During this time, they will receive hands-on training to prepare them for the responsibilities and challenges of serving our community.
We are excited to welcome both officers to our department and look forward to watching them grow in their careers. Please join us in welcoming Officer Stewart and Officer Lemon to the Springfield Township Police Department.
