The GOOD ticket, our Red Ticket Drawing was Friday morning!
Students earn tickets throughout the week for showing their RRPK behaviors by being Respectful, Responsible, Prepared, and Kind.
Each Friday, names are drawn from all Red Tickets earned from the current week and students are recognized by being able to select a prize.
Congrats to those who had their name drawn and keep up the great work.

Last week, we had the CollegeNow Director, Holly Olson, come to Akron-Westfield School to offer assistance in helping our students navigate through the login process for the online college classes they are taking through WITCC. As an additional attendance incentive, they brought prizes for a few random winners.

Scoreboards For Sale - Bidding Open Until September 18 at 1:00 p.m.

Two scoreboards and controllers that have been used in the Elementary Gym are up for bid.

This is an open bidding process, meaning you can find out the current bid at any point.

The scoreboards are being sold as-is with no guarantees. They currently operate, but finding parts to keep them operating is becoming difficult, which is why we are replacing them.

If interested in placing a bid, please call (712) 568-2020.

Bidding closes at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18.

๐Ÿ“ฃ It's time to get to know our new staff for this upcoming school year!๐Ÿ“ฃ
We are starting with our new leader in the 7-12th Principal position. Mr. Bliss is excited to start working with the students and staff. Mr. Bliss moved to Akron with his wife and 2 kids that will also work at and attend Akron-Westfield. We are excited to have him and his family as a part of our community.

1. What is your favorite thing about your position as principal?

Getting to know the students, staff, and community.

2. What are some of your hobbies, interests, fun facts outside of working at the school?

I like to play bass guitar in my band, ride my Harley-Davidson, and spend time with my family.

3. What inspired you to pursue a career in education?

I had some really great teachers and coaches that really inspired me to โ€œcarry that torchโ€ and give back to help students reach their full potential.

4. What excites you most about joining the Akron-Westfield family as our 7-12 principal?

I really like the fact that I get to know the students of the district extremely well. We are a small enough district that my hope is that before long, I will know everyoneโ€™s name in the building. That is important to me, as I am a relationship based person.

5. What is one of your favorite quotes?

"You only get out what you put in."
