A little appreciation goes a long way! The ADM Board staff wanted to share a small token of gratitude with our Circle of Hope members and thank them for their incredible hard work throughout Summit County.

We dropped off workforce development books and writing notebooks for staff members of Victim Assistance Program of Summit County to enjoy. Inside each of the notebooks, there is a thank you note as well as more information on our workforce development efforts.

Again, thank you to the Victim Assistance Program for being a proud partner of the ADM Board’s Circle of Hope.

Our VAP staff had a wonderful time attending the Two Days in May Conference in Columbus, where nearly 1,000 victim advocates, social workers, and law enforcement professionals came together to learn, share, and grow. Our Director of Education, Shelley Blundell, Essentials Coordinator, Dana Zedak, and advocates Kylie Gaddis and Sondra Jordan appreciated the opportunity to connect with others who are equally passionate about supporting victims. Experiences like this help strengthen our work and ensure we continue providing trauma-informed care to those we serve.

Our Supervisor of Advocacy Services– Main Street, Ripley Villers, and Senior Victim Advocate, Makayla, had a great time attending the Cookout and Connect Resource Fair for Mental Health Awareness Month event hosted by Oriana House & Rigel Recovery Services. Providers from across the community shared valuable resources and support options. We always appreciate opportunities like this to connect, collaborate, and raise awareness about victim services in Summit County.

Did you know that May is Mental Health Awareness Month? This month is dedicated to raising awareness, reducing stigma, and encouraging meaningful conversations about mental health and emotional well‑being. Prioritizing mental health is an essential part of overall wellness, especially for individuals who have experienced trauma or victimization.

At Victim Assistance Program, we believe education and access to resources are key to healing and resiliency. Through community education, supportive services, and advocacy, we work to empower victims, promote safety, and help individuals navigate the impacts of trauma. Whether it’s learning about coping strategies, understanding victims’ rights, or connecting with support services, we are here to help.

Our Director of Education, Shelley Blundell, attended the Senior Summit Expo, a day dedicated to supporting older adults through education, resources, and fun. Our Supervisor of Advocacy Services at Barberton, Samantha Robinson, also participated in a Senior Summit conference panel, From First Contact to Fallout: How Scams Unfold, where she shared insight on protecting seniors from scams. We appreciated connecting with everyone and sharing education about our services to better serve our community.

On Wednesday, members of our team attended the Annual Memorial to honor the 27 Akron police officers and one deputy marshal who gave their lives in the line of duty. We were honored to attend and stand in remembrance.
