☔️ Weather Update for The BLVD BLOCK PARTY
We're keeping a close eye on the forecast and want everyone to know the event is still moving forward.

🏃 Kenmore Cowbell 7K will continue as scheduled unless race organizers determine conditions are unsafe. A little rain is nothing new for most runners, and light rain alone will not stop the race.

🎺 The parade is weather-dependent and may be canceled if conditions warrant. Any decision will be communicated as soon as possible.

🎶 Live music will go on! If rain moves in, performances will be relocated indoors so the fun can continue. Locations will be posted should that be the decision.

🎨 Art shows are at locations with indoor space already.

Please follow our social media channels for the latest updates as we monitor conditions throughout the evening and tomorrow morning. Thank you for your flexibility, and we look forward to seeing you on The BLVD—rain or shine! ️

In addition to bike riders and playground patrons, it was exciting to see on such a beautiful day volunteers out working on the DIY skatepark at Prentiss Park.

Gary and Alex are making progress on the quarterpipe and have already gotten some curbs and rails placed and painted. Check out the red bench from the former Kenmore High School site!

This is a great project that is attracting attention from neighbors, skaters and bikers, too. If you'd like to volunteer to help build the skatepark, contact [email protected]. If you are interested in learning more about the Friends of Prentiss Park group, email me at [email protected].

SAFETY & COMMUNITY UPDATE

We recognize that some in our community have expressed concern ahead of Saturday's BLVD Block Party following last week’s tragic incident a few blocks away.

As a community development corporation, our work is rooted in strengthening neighborhoods through connection, investment, and shared pride. Events like The BLVD Block Party are one way we help support the ongoing story of Kenmore Boulevard—one that is also defined by resilience, local ownership, creativity, and the everyday work of building a stronger place to live and do business.

We are working closely with our public safety partners to ensure a safe and welcoming experience for everyone. Uniformed officers will be present throughout the morning’s 7K race and parade, and the parade also includes the SWAT Community Rescue Vehicle, the Honor Guard, and a police cruiser. Further, the afternoon incorporates a cruiser touch a truck and patrols. Street closures and traffic management will be in place as well.

We want to uplift what this day is truly about—showing up for one another, supporting local businesses, and highlighting the good that is already here. Events like this bring neighbors together, strengthen community connections, and showcase the many positive things happening in Kenmore.

Akron, it’s time to !

This Friday, June 5th is National Gun Violence Awareness Day — and Akron City Council is asking our entire community to show up and show OUT in orange!

Orange is the color hunters wear to say “don’t shoot.” It became the symbol of this movement when a group of Chicago teenagers chose it to honor their 15-year-old friend Hadiya Pendleton, killed by a stray bullet in 2013. Her friends refused to be silent — and because of them, millions across this country wear orange every June as a powerful declaration: every life matters. Every. Single. One.

Gun violence touches too many of our families here in Akron. We’ve grieved together. We’ve marched together. And now we stand together — in orange — to say: not one more.

Here’s how YOU can participate:
- Wear orange on Friday, June 5th
- Post a photo and tag us!
- Use the hashtags and

Let’s flood our feeds with orange, Akron. Let’s make some noise for the lives we’ve lost and the lives we’re fighting to protect.

Will you wear orange with us? Drop a 🟠 in the comments if you’re IN!
