Jewish Family Services is a non-profit agency designed to assist and support the local senior community by helping seniors and their families. Established in 1914, Jewish Family Services aids seniors in improving the quality of their lives by helping them to stay healthy, happy, and safe. Many seniors struggle with feelings of depression, anxiety, and grief, along with the stress of caring for themselves and their homes. Seniors also sometimes have trouble staying connected to their communities. Jewish Family Services provides seniors with individual and group counseling and case management services by linking clients appropriate resources to help them stay in their homes. The agency also helps seniors stay connected to their friends, family, and community. Other services that are provided by the agency include family interventions, medicine regulation programs, and community education programs on topics such as Medicare and home downsizing. Jewish Family Service is funded by United Way, Jewish Community Board of Akron, and grants.
