When Summit for Kids began in 2010, the purpose was to provide local children with supplies, information, health resources, and fun activities so they had the opportunity to start their school year prepared and ready to learn. At that time, there were not many organizations providing school readiness services under one roof. With your support and participation, Summit for Kids became tremendously successful. Due to this success, many organizations were inspired to create their own initiatives, thus duplicating our efforts.
Because there are so many groups now in the “Back to School” arena and, after careful consideration, the Summit on Children Task Force has decided to take a year off from the annual event to reflect on how best to continue to meet the needs of our communities. The mission of the Task Force is to enhance the services being provided to children and families in our community with an emphasis on early childhood development. We would appreciate any feedback you have to offer on how we can improve in areas of unmet needs. Please email your suggestions to [email protected].
