Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority

Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority AMHA provides safe and decent affordable housing for low-income residents in the Akron area.

The Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority provides affordable housing options to approximately 10,000 households throughout Summit County. Our public housing program consists of over 4,000 apartments and single family homes that receive federal rental subsidies for low income families as well as disabled and elderly individuals. In addition, AMHA owns and/or manages over 800 apartments that are fed

erally subsidized and/or financed with low income housing tax credits or tax-exempt bonds. AMHA also administers rental subsidy to over 5,000 households through the Housing Choice Voucher Program. AMHA works in partnership with may public and private entities to help strengthen our community. By investing in partnerships, we are better able to address the basic needs of our residents and create opportunities for self-sufficiency and a better quality of life. As the need for affordable housing continues to grow, with over 22,000 applicants on our waiting lists, we will continue to invest in education, employment and the needs of the elderly and disabled.

Reach Opportunity Center is excited to partner with Conxus NEO and the Greater Akron Chamber Polymer Cluster to distribute our first-ever Polymer Packs for Polymer Palooza!

Each take-home kit includes materials to create slime or a bouncy ball and to explore the science behind polymers. These activities help bring STEM learning outside of the classroom and into the home, encouraging our young scholars to experiment and ask questions.

Community partnerships like these help connect our youth to new learning experiences and introduce them to innovation that is actively shaping our region's future. Thank you to our partners for making hands-on STEM education accessible to all!

667 pounds of food. Over 555 meals provided. Countless neighbors supported ❤️

Through the initiative for Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and METRO Regional Transit Authority, AMHA Resident Services helped make a meaningful impact in the fight against hunger across our community.

We are proud to share that our agency collected 667 pounds of food, helping provide more than 555 meals to individuals and families throughout the region.

The Harvest for Hunger Campaign is the Foodbank's largest fundraising campaign and supports food distribution year-round. For many years, AMHA has proudly supported the work of Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, and this effort is another reminder that even small acts of service can create a lasting impact.

Thank you to everyone who donated, supported, and helped us Stuff the Bus!
