The Akron Urban League, founded in 1925, is a nonprofit social service agency, with a mission to improve the quality of life for citizens of Summit County – particularly African-Americans – through economic self-reliance and social empowerment. The agency fulfills its mission through programming in the areas of education, employment, and entrepreneurship that reach individuals from youth to senior citizens. Annually, the Akron Urban League serves nearly 13,000 individuals through job placement assistance, business education, computer training, GED preparation, emergency food distribution, scholarships, and other services to those in need.

Through faith, practical legal organization, and education, Favored In The Fight helps individuals representing themselves in family court move from overwhelmed to prepared.

The business is now expanding its vision to include workshops, speaking engagements, educational programs, and more digital tools designed to empower and inform the community.

The Akron Urban League is proud to partner with Judge David Hamilton of the Akron Municipal Court for Expungement Day: “Sealing the Past & Breaking Barriers” on Friday, November 6.

Eligible individuals will have the opportunity to receive on-site expungements for misdemeanor cases, along with valuable resources and support from our community partners. Fines and fees may also be waived for qualifying individuals.

Meet Dale Hambrick, Certified Herbalist and founder of Hambrick Organics, a Black-owned wellness company based in Akron, Ohio.

After losing more than 90 pounds in under a year, Dale turned his personal health transformation into a mission to help others reclaim their wellness naturally. Hambrick Organics offers handcrafted herbal teas, wildcrafted sea moss gels, tinctures, detox programs, and other natural wellness products—along with guidance on how to use them properly.

Coming soon, Dale will open his first retail location, The Wellness Trap by Hambrick Organics, at 971 Kenmore Boulevard in Akron! The store will serve as a community wellness hub where customers can shop, learn, and receive continued support throughout their health journeys.
