Crazy there are so many comments, concerns and claims of "inconsistency"on our last post.

When the same City of Akron, Ohio - Mayor's Office , Akron Urban League , and Downtown Akron Partnership you all are politely ignoring on this post are the ones who stripped the resources from this event 2 yrs ago, to begin this closure.

This isn't a government funded grift like all these more "consistent" events.... and you wonder why the comments are usually off.

Seems like the people who need this event the most are inconsistent in their understanding of why there are no non government ran events left in this city.
.. There goes your statement BTW. Enjoy your raisin potato salad (AGAIN).

Hopefully we can act like we know better next year.

Thank you all for your interest in this year's festival, but The Official Akron Juneteenth Festival has been canceled for this year.
There will be an official statement made soon on why.
In the mean time we encourage vendors and long time supporters to help enrich the West Akron Parade and Butchie Tha Barber's efforts to provide fun and culture for our Akron Youth this year.
Please enjoy your neighborhood celebrations and we will see you for the 30th anniversary next year🎊🥳

METRO Regional Transit Authority Offers Free Rides on Saturdays & Sundays in June, July, and August for the Fifth Year

Summit County—METRO Regional Transit Authority is pleased to announce the return of Free Fare Summer Weekends throughout June, July, and August. Riders can take any METRO Direct route at no cost on Saturdays and Sundays.

“METRO is excited to offer Free Fare Weekends for the fifth year as a way to give back to our community and help remove transportation barriers to all the great events in our service area during the summer,” said Director of Public Relations & Marketing, Molly Becker. “If you always ride, try a different route. If you are new to riding, explore your community by bus.”

Free weekend rides begin Saturday, June 6, 2026, and end on Sunday, August 30, 2026. METRO ADA riders will also qualify for free weekend rides. Refunds or credits will not be issued for tickets and passes previously activated or purchased.

METRO RTA is the public transportation provider in Summit County. METRO enhances the quality of life for our community by providing innovative transportation solutions that are safe, equitable, dependable, cost-effective, and customer-focused, now and into the future.
