GIVE LIKE DOLLY DAY: September 25th
The Dollywood Foundation, home of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, has announced GIVE LIKE DOLLY DAY on September 25th, a global day dedicated to supporting local Dolly Patron's Imagination Library Programs and honoring Dolly's extraordinary legacy of inspiring children to dream big and develop a lifelong love of reading. As Dolly often said, "If you can read, you can do anything, dream anything and be anything."

At the heart of GIVE LIKE DOLLY DAY are thousands of Local Imagination Library Partners who help carry Dolly's mission forward in their own communities. These Library Partners help raise funds, build community support and work tirelessly to ensure children from birth to age five in their communities can receive a free, high-quality book mailed directly to their home each month.

The Brown County Imagination Library is a group effort led by the Ainsworth Chamber of Commerce, Ainsworth Public Library and Ainsworth Library Foundation volunteers. As of the last billing cycle, Brown County had 86 active kids with 111 graduating. On average, the cost per child is under $3.00 a month to receive a free book a month in the mail to participating children under the age of five living in Brown County. If your child does not take part in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library please let the public library or Chamber Office know and they will help you with the sign-up. You may also sign-up directly online through the Imagination Library's website. There is never a cost to the families. The Dollywood Foundation covers overhead costs and negotiates pricing for the books while local partners fundraise to cover the cost of mailing and wholesale book prices for the children in their coverage area. The Imagination Library's impact has been widely studied, with research consistently showing positive effects on early childhood development, kindergarten readiness, and family reading habits.

If you would like to donation funds towards the Brown County Imagination Library, you have three different ways to contribute. You may make donations:

1. Online to NEBROWNCO (69210) at Dolly Parton's Imagination Library at https://imaginationlibrary.com This is the easiest and fastest way to give a donation!

2. To the Ainsworth Chamber of Commerce at 340 North Main Street, Ainsworth, NE 69210 or [email protected]

3. To the Ainsworth Public Library/Ainsworth Library Foundation P.O. Box 207 Ainsworth, NE 69210 or to [email protected]

We would like to thank all that have contributed to this wonderful reading promotion for small children in the past and hope that you will continue to support this cause!

The October Book Club selection is now available for check out. Up next will be "The Astronaut Wives Club: A True Story" by Lily Koppel. Stop by the library and check out a copy to read. Join us on October 19th at 2 p.m. as we share thoughts on the book.

This book is a fascinating, behind-the-scenes look at the lives of the women married to the astronauts . As America's Mercury Seven astronauts were launched on death-defying missions, television cameras focused on the brave smiles of their young wives. Overnight, these women were transformed from military spouses into American royalty. They had tea with Jackie Kennedy, appeared on the cover of Life magazine, and quickly grew into fashion icons. As their celebrity rose—and as divorce and tragedy began to touch their lives—the wives continued to rally together, forming bonds that would withstand the test of time, and they have stayed friends for over half a century.

Out with the old drinking fountain and in with a new one! The Ainsworth Library Foundation has held several fundraisers to raise funds for this fountain replacement. The fountain is now lower so it is easier for the small children to use. You may also fill up your drinking cups with this fountain. Come and enjoy!

Book Club will meet today at 2 p.m. We will be handing out the October selection at that time. Hope to see you there!
