Brown County Sheriff's Office Weekly Report - May 24th Through May 30th

May 24th
Brown County Deputies responded to a suspicious person call at the Airport. Brown County Deputies spoke with the individual and found everything to be ok.

Traffic stops were made throughout Brown County resulting in five speeding warnings and a warning for driving left of center were issued.

May 25th
Brown County Deputy investigated an unattended death in Long Pine.

Brown County Deputy was asked to do a welfare check after reports of a driver slump down inside of her vehicle. Brown County Deputy reported that the driver is ok.

Brown County Ambulance was on standby at rodeo bible camp in Johnstown.

South Pine and Long Pine fire departments responded for mutual aid for a fire near Rose.

Traffic stops were made throughout Brown County resulting in six warnings for speeding, driving left of center, and not wearing seat belts and repair orders were issued for improper defective vehicle lighting, no proof of ownership of vehicle, and no registration inside of the vehicle.

May 26th
Brown County Ambulance responded to a patient in rural Brown County and transported them to the Brown County Hospital.

Brown County Ambulance assisted the Brown County hospital with a transfer of a patient.

A traffic stop was made in Ainsworth; the driver received a citation for driving 14 Mph over the posted speed limit and a written warning for not having proof of registration inside of the vehicle.

One speeding warning and one driving on the shoulder of the highway warnings were given.

May 27th
Brown County Deputy asked campers in Long Pine State Park to leave the park after game and park staff had continuous issues with the campers throughout the holiday weekend. The camper’s left the park.

Brown County Deputy responded to notification of a bank alarm going off in Ainsworth. Deputy checked with the staff inside of the bank and everything was found to be ok.

Brown County Deputies investigated a reported MIP party in Ainsworth.

A traffic stop was made in Ainsworth; the driver received a citation for their registration being expired for more than one year.

Two traffic stops were made west on Highway 20; the drivers received a citation for driving 16 Mph over the posted speed limit.

Brown County Deputy was dispatched to a suspicious vehicle in Long Pine. The Deputy was able to speak with the driver of the vehicle and found out that he was with Viaero and that he was testing cell phone towers around the area.

Two speeding warnings, failing to yield for the right of way warning and seat belt warnings were issued.

May 28th
Brown County Sheriff looked into a report of an unsafe bicyclist on Highway 20. The bicyclist was found not doing anything inappropriate.

Brown County Sheriff and Deputy investigated a possible break in to a residence in Ainsworth.

Brown County Sheriff Office received a complaint of a semi unable to maintain its lane while driving. The Deputy was able to follow the reported semi and traffic stop was made in Ainsworth. The driver was tired and stopped for the rest of the night to rest. The driver received a written warning for failing to maintain lane.

Two warnings for speeding were issued.

May 29th
Brown County Sheriff office received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the east cemetery on Highway 20. The reported vehicle left the cemetery shortly after the report.

One speeding warning and repair orders were issued for no proof of insurance inside of the vehicle and improper or defective vehicle lighting.

May 30th
Brown County responded to a calf in the roadway on Highway 20. Brown County deputy was unable to find the calf.

A traffic stop was made north on Highway 183; the driver received a citation for driving 36 Mph over the posted speed limit. The driver also received a written warning for not wearing their seat belt and a repair order for not having proof of their current insurance.

Brown County ambulance responded to a patient in Ainsworth and transported them to the Brown County Hospital.

A citation was issued for Minor in possession of Alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia, and another citation was issued for drug paraphernalia in Ainsworth.

Four warnings for speeding were given and a repair order was given for not having insurance inside of their vehicle.

May 17th through May 23rd

May 17th
Nebraska State Patrol was asked to investigate a deputy involved traffic accident on Highway 20. The Brown County Deputy was attempting to make a traffic stop on Highway 20 and collided with another vehicle.

Brown County Deputies responded to an altercation at a residence in Ainsworth. During the investigation an individual was arrested for domestic assault 3rd degree of a pregnant woman and disturbing the peace.

May 18th
Brown County Deputy investigated a fender bender accident in Ainsworth.

Brown County Deputy investigated harassing social media messages.

Brown County Deputy investigated a 911 call from Long Pine.

May 19th
Brown County Deputy investigated movie prop money that was used to purchase items at a business in Ainsworth. During the investigation it appeared to be an accident by the person and an isolated incident. The individual returned to the store and paid with real money.

Brown County Sheriff and Deputy were asked to do a welfare check of an individual in Ainsworth. During the welfare check a mental health professional that works with Brown County Sheriff Office was utilized to sit and speak with the person.

May 20th
Brown County Sheriff provided court security for county courts in Ainsworth.

Brown County Deputy was requested to do a welfare check of an individual in Ainsworth. The deputy was able to contact the person, and everything was found to be ok.

A traffic stop was made south on Highway 7; the driver was given a citation for driving 13 Mph over the posted speed limit.

Brown County Sheriff received a report of a suspicious vehicle driving erratic south of Long Pine. The vehicle was found and the driver was contacted. It was reported that everything was ok and no unusual behaviors were observed.

Brown County Deputies assisted DHHS with investigations.

Brown County Ambulance responded to a patient in Ainsworth and transported the patient to the Brown County Hospital.

Other traffic stops occurred resulting in written warnings for speeding, driving on the shoulder of the highway, and not wearing their seat belt.

May 21st
A traffic stop was made south on Highway 7; the driver was given a citation for driving 15 Mph over the posted speed limit.

Brown County sheriff’s office received complaints of a reckless driver that originated just north of Ainsworth. Brown County Deputy responded to the reported area. The sheriff’s office then received a report that the reported vehicle was going west bound. Brown County deputy attempted to catch up to the vehicle. The deputy was unable to find the reported vehicle and Cherry County was notified of the reckless driver.

A traffic stop was made south on Highway 7; during the traffic stop the deputy searched the vehicle. The driver was given a citation for driving 15 Mph over the posted speed limit and the passenger was given a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Brown County Deputy went to Kearney to pick up an inmate that was arrested on a Brown County Warrant and brought them back to Brown County.

Two traffic stop were made west on Highway 20; the driver was given a citation for driving 15 Mph over the posted speed limit.

Other traffic stops occurred resulting in written warnings/repair orders being given for speeding, not wearing their seat belt, not using their turn signals, driving left of center, improper defective vehicle lighting and no driver’s license on their person.

May 22nd
Brown County Sheriff and Deputy provided traffic control for a cattle crossing west on Highway 20.

Five speeding warnings were given and one repair order was given for expired registration.

May 23rd
A traffic stop was made east on Highway 20; the driver was given a citation for driving 15 Mph over the posted speed limit.

Brown County Jail released an inmate.

A traffic stop was made east on highway 20; The driver received a citation for possession of open alcohol container, suspended driver’s license and given a repair order for improper or defective vehicle lighting.

Other traffic stops occurred resulting in written warnings/repair orders being given for speeding, improper or defective vehicle lighting, expired registrations, and driving without their headlights on after dark.

May 10th through May 16th

May 10th
Brown County Sheriff’s office Office was notified of a possible vehicle accident via a 3rd party software. The dispatcher on duty was able to contact the driver and was informed that they were not in an accident. The Brown County Deputy also responded to the reported area and did not see anything that would indicate that an accident occurred.

Brown County Deputies responded to disturbing the peace/welfare check of an individual in rural Brown County.

Brown County Deputy responded to a reckless driver complaint south of Highway 7. Brown County Deputy was unable to find the reported vehicle.

A traffic stop was made west on Highway 20; the driver received a citation for speeding 10 Mph over the posted speed limit and driving without a driver’s license.

Brown County Deputy assisted in getting cattle out of the roadway west on Highway 20.

May 11th
Brown County Sheriff responded to cattle out east on Highway 20.

Brown County Deputy assisted in getting cattle out of roadway west on Highway 20.

Brown County Deputy investigated a road rage incident between two residents of Brown County. After the Deputy spoke to both parties involved, the deputy mediated a conversation between the parties, and everything was found to be ok.

A traffic stop was made east on Highway 20; the driver received a citation because he was driving 11 Mph over the posted speed limit.

Brown County Deputy stopped an individual in Ainsworth violating stipulations of their court commitment in Ainsworth.

Brown County Sheriff made traffic stop north Highway 183; the driver received citation for driving 15 Mph over the posted speed limit and possession of an open alcohol container.

Ainsworth Fire Department responded to a reported fire east of Ainsworth.

Brown County Deputy spoke with petitioner in Ainsworth after they were reported of bothering staff and patrons coming and going from an Ainsworth business. The Deputy informed the petitioner of the appropriate areas allowed to do what they were doing and informed them they were not welcome at the business.

Brown County Sheriff provided court security for district court in Ainsworth.

Brown County Deputies responded to a welfare check in rural Brown County. While doing the welfare check Brown County Ambulance was notified and responded and brought the individual to the Brown County Hospital.

Brown County Deputy provided a motorist assist in rural Brown County. After a hunter’s serpentine belt broke. The Deputy transported the motorist to where he was camping.

Brown County Deputy responded to a complaint of cattle in the roadway east on Highway 20. Brown County Deputy was unable to find the reported cattle.

May 13th
Brown County Deputy attended a long-range firearm training big at the Dismal River Club near Mullen, NE

Brown County Deputy responded to cattle out east on Highway 20 and provided traffic control while the cattle were moved off the roadway.

A traffic stop was made west on Highway 20; the driver received a citation for driving 15 Mph over the posted speed limit.

Long Pine Fire Department responded to a fire at the Long Pine dump.

Brown County deputies responded to a verbal altercation between neighbors in Long Pine. One individual was given a citation for disturbing the peace.

May 14th
Brown County Deputies and dispatch staff attended Active Shooter training in Ainsworth.

Brown County Deputy received complaints about kids riding their bikes and scooters and not paying attention to traffic around Ainsworth Community Schools. Deputies patrolled the area.

Brown County Deputy worked on a suspicious activity complaint at a business in Ainsworth. The reported vehicles at the business were contacted by the deputy.

May 15th
Brown County Deputies were called to the pond near East City Park in Ainsworth due to a noise complaint. It was found out by talking to the adults that the juveniles were sleeping in the tent and that they were there for an Eagle Scouts project to help plant trees around the pond.

May 16th
Brown County Deputy responded to a verbal altercation between family members in Ainsworth. During the investigation it was discovered that a family was left in Ainsworth with no means of getting back home in another state. Brown County Deputy arranged for advocate in the area to assist the family in finding a place to stay and safely return home.

A traffic stop was made east on Highway 20; the driver received a citation for a 6-month expired registration.

A traffic stop was made west on Highway 20; the driver received a citation for driving 15 Mph over the posted speed limit.

Brown County Deputy investigated a report of harassment in Ainsworth. The deputy spoke with the reported person.

Brown County Deputies investigated a report of dead calves being dumped off a bridge into a creek in rural Brown County. The owner of the calves was contacted, and a citation was issued for not properly disposing a dead animal.

Long Pine Fire and Ainsworth fire departments responded to a report of a possible chemical spill and cloud near Highway 20 and Highway 183 junction.

May 6th
Brown County Sheriff provided court security for county courts in Ainsworth.

Brown County Sheriff spoke with an individual about their compost setup.

Brown County Ambulance responded to a patient near Johnstown and transported the patient to Brown County Hospital.

A traffic stop was made north on Highway 183; the driver received a citation for driving 15 Mph over the posted speed limit.

April 26th
A traffic stop was made west on Highway 20; the driver was given repair orders for not having their registration and proof of insurance. The driver also received a written warning for driving left of center.

Brown County Sheriff Office received reports of two vehicles in Ainsworth that were driving at a high rate of speed. Brown County Deputy responded and patrolled the area for the reported vehicle.

Brown County Sheriff Office received reports of a horse in the roadway on Highway 20. The owner of the horse was contacted, and the horse was removed from the roadway.

Brown County Sheriff, Deputies, Ainsworth and Long Pine Fire departments and Brown County Ambulance responded to a two-vehicle accident at Highway 20 and the 9A spur near Long Pine.

Brown County Deputies responded to reports of a vehicle in Ainsworth doing “cookies” in yard near a residence. This is an ongoing investigation.

Long Pine Fire and Ainsworth Fire Departments responded to a fire North on Highway 183.

Brown County Deputies were asked to do a welfare check of a person in Ainsworth. It was reported that the person was ok.

April 27th
Brown County Sheriff and Deputy helped with a locked down drill at Ainsworth Community Schools.

Brown County Deputies attended Mental Health and Substance Abuse training in Valentine.

April 28th
Brown County Deputy trained and certified a neighboring county to use axon tasers.

Ainsworth Fire Department responded to a possible fire in Ainsworth.

Brown County Deputy assisted with getting a bull out of the road in rural Brown County.

Brown County Deputy responded to a report of two vehicle’s “hot rodding” in Ainsworth and doing “cookies” out on the county roads. The two reported vehicles were found, and the drivers of the vehicles were issued citations for careless driving.

Brown County Ambulance assisted the Brown County hospital with a transfer of a patient.

April 29th
Brown County Deputy responded to a report of a abandoned vehicle parked at a business in Ainsworth. The owner of the vehicle was contacted, and the vehicle was going to be moved later in the week.

Brown County Sheriff Office was given a lost wallet. A Brown County Deputy returned the wallet to its owner.

A traffic stop was made east on Highway 20; the driver was given written warning for not having a license plate on their vehicle and no proof of insurance in the vehicle.

Brown County Sheriff Office received a report of a vehicle not maintaining its lane driving on Highway 20. Brown County Deputy initiated a traffic stop on the reported vehicle. The Deputy checked for signs of impaired driving and issued a written warning for driving on the shoulder of the highway.

April 30th
Ainsworth Fire Department responded to a reported fire north on Highway 183.

Brown County Deputy investigated a dog attacking livestock near Ainsworth. The owner of the dog received a citation for a dangerous dog.

A traffic stop was made east on Highway 20; the driver was given a written warning for speeding.

May 1st
Ainsworth Fire Department responded to a possible fire East on Highway 20.

Brown County Sheriff Office is investigating tarp arrows in the ditches in rural Brown County.

Brown County Sheriff Office received reports of a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed without its headlights on in Long Pine.
