It’s hard to imagine Aiken County EMS without Ed’s hat, his willingness to help, and the occasional “I plum forgot.”

Today, we say “see you later” to Captain Ed Eidson as he retires after 31 years of service to Aiken County.

For more than three decades, Ed has been the kind of person who never hesitated to lend a hand when it was needed. Whether it was teaching auto extrication, fixing equipment, or supporting coworkers through critical incidents, he was always ready to help.

We’re grateful for the 31 years of dedication and friendship he has given to Aiken County EMS—and yes, for the countless times we've watched him turn bright red while he's giggling.

Enjoy retirement, Ed. You’ve certainly earned it.

Since this is the last day of school year, we thought it would be a fun time to thank Mrs. B and Mrs. Rice from Jefferson Elementary School for giving us the opportunity to come spend time with their students this week 🚑💙

We brought an ambulance for the kids to explore, talked about what EMS does, and had fun along the way. The smiles and spontaneous toad visit made the morning even more memorable!

Please help us congratulate Stephen Farina on being named our Paramedic of the Year! 🎉

Stephen’s dedication to patient care and passion for the EMS profession make him an invaluable part of our department. Over the past several years, he has played a key role in our guideline committee, helping ensure our providers have strong, up-to-date pathways to deliver the best possible care to our patients.

Known for his friendly personality, love of all things nerdy, and ability to teach without making it feel like teaching, Stephen is always willing to help new employees grow and succeed. Whether he’s talking medicine, D&D, or helping someone through a tough call, he’s someone people know they can count on.

We’re proud to have him on our team — congratulations, Stephen! 🚑💙

Please help us congratulate Kayla Wolfe on being named our Basic EMT of the Year! 🎉

Kayla’s kindness, steady presence, and genuine care for others make her an incredible part of our department. She has a quiet way of making patients feel comfortable and supported, and her compassion shines through on every call she responds to.

Known for being a friend to everyone she meets, Kayla has a special gift for working with our special needs community, bringing patience, understanding, and a warm smile to those interactions. And if there’s a cat involved somewhere along the way, even better.

We’re proud to have the privilege to work along side her — congratulations, Kayla! 🚑💙

We appreciate everyone who took time to reflect, remember, and honor those who served alongside us.

The memorial wall shared in yesterday’s post recognizes Aiken County EMS employees who passed away while actively employed by the agency at the time of their passing.

We also continue to hold deep respect and appreciation for former employees and retirees whose service and contributions impacted this organization and our community in meaningful ways.

Suggestions regarding future memorial recognition may be shared privately through Facebook Messenger for appropriate review and consideration.

We respectfully ask that conversations surrounding these memorials remain thoughtful and respectful as we continue honoring the memories of those who served.

Thank you.

🚑 Remembrance Day

Today we pause to remember the EMS providers, coworkers, and friends we’ve lost.

They served their community with dedication, compassion, and professionalism — showing up every day to care for others in their hardest moments.

Their impact didn’t end when their time in service ended. It continues in the crews they worked alongside, the patients they cared for, and the legacy they left within Aiken County EMS.

This photo shows our memorial wall honoring Aiken County EMS employees who passed away during their time of employment with our agency. It is one way we recognize those who were part of our organization and the impact they made while serving with us.

We also remember our retirees and former employees who are no longer with us, and the lasting impact they had on this organization and the people they served shoulder to shoulder with.

We honor their memory.

We honor their service.

We honor the mark they each left on this profession.

Never forgotten. 💙

🚑 EMS Week 2026 – Day 6: EMS Recognition Day

🚑Today is about the people behind the uniform.

The early mornings, the late nights, the tough calls, the missed holidays — all of it adds up to a job that asks a lot from the people who do it. And every day, our EMS providers still show up ready to take care of others.

It’s not just the work itself, but how it’s done — with professionalism, compassion, and a commitment to each other and the community we serve.

To our crews: thank you for everything you do, even when no one is watching. 💙

🚑 EMS Week 2026 – Day 5: Save A Life Day / Stop the Bleed Day

When seconds count, what happens before we arrive can make all the difference.

Every day, EMS providers respond with the training, teamwork, and equipment needed to care for patients in critical moments — but some of the most important steps in saving a life can happen early, before EMS ever gets on scene.

Simple skills like hands-only CPR can be incredibly powerful. In a cardiac emergency, immediate CPR can help maintain blood flow to the brain and vital organs until help arrives — and it’s something anyone can learn.

Bleeding control and quick recognition of emergencies also play a major role in survival.

Take action early, and you can make a real difference in a life-threatening situation.💙
