Children are more likely to speak up when they know trusted adults will listen calmly and supportively.

This summer, make space for regular check-ins:
💬 “What was the best part of your day?”
💬 “Did anything make you uncomfortable?”
💬 “Do you feel safe around the adults in your life?”

Small conversations create stronger trust and safer communities.

Summer camps and activities should be fun, structured, and safe.

Safe environments are built through prevention, awareness, and accountability.

Children may not always directly tell someone when something is wrong. Knowing the signs can help adults step in sooner.

Some possible warning signs include:
• Sudden behavior changes
• Fear of certain people or places
• Withdrawal or anxiety
• Regression in younger children
• Unexplained injuries or frequent stomachaches/headaches

One sign alone may not mean abuse — but paying attention matters.

If something feels off, trust your instincts and seek support.

During summer break, kids often spend more time online gaming, chatting, and using social media. That makes digital safety conversations especially important.

Helpful reminders for families:

📱 Know what apps your child uses
🎮 Monitor online gaming chats
🔒 Review privacy settings together
💬 Teach children they can always come to you if something feels uncomfortable

Creating a safe environment online matters just as much as offline.

Summer break means more freedom, more activities, and more time spent with different caregivers. It also means children may have less contact with teachers and other mandated reporters who often notice signs something is wrong.

Simple supervision habits can make a big difference:

☀️ Know where your children are
☀️ Check in often during sleepovers and playdates
☀️ Learn who is supervising camps and activities
☀️ Keep communication open and judgment-free

A safe summer starts with attentive adults. 💙
